Chiostro del Convento di Sant'Antonio Abate

Se state percorrendo via Bassano, attenzione a non lasciarvi sfuggire quel che resta del Chiostro del Convento di Sant'Antonio Abate, proprio collocato a fianco dell'omonima chiesa. Questo chiostro grazioso è tutto ciò che resta di quello che era il Convento francescano omonimo: oggi si può ammirare attraverso un cancello in ferro battuto un piccolo giardino con qualche scultura in pietra graziosa (alcune delle quali un tempo si trovavano nella chiesa di Sant'Antonio Abate), un portico sviluppato su due lati su cui si trovano altre sculture di santi. Al momento della mia visita il chiostro era chiuso, pertanto ho dovuto limitarmi ad apprezzarlo da fuori. Se salite sulla scalinata che porta alla chiesa della Madonna del Carmine, voltatevi a rimirare via Bassano alle vostre spalle e avrete una bella visuale sul chiostro stesso.

If you are traveling via Bassano, careful not to miss what remains of the Cloister of the Convent of St. Anthony Abbot, placed right alongside of the church. This graceful cloisters all that remains of what was the Franciscan convent of the same name: today you can admire through a small garden in a wrought-iron gate with some in pretty stone carving (some of which once stood in the Church of Saint Anthony ), a porch on two sides of which are other sculptures of saints. At the time of my visit the cloister was closed, so I had to limit myself to appreciate it from outside. If you go up the stairs leading to the Madonna del Carmine church, turn around to gaze away Bassano behind you and you'll have a beautiful view of the cloister itself.
