On Praça Conde de Agrolongo, opposite the Church and Convento do Pópulo stands the Monument to Manuel Gomes da Costa, a military officer and Portuguese politician, who was president of the republic and Prime Minister of Portugal. It's a granite pedestal with a bronze statue of this character dressed in his military uniform.
