7 reviews of Lozoya River

Highest quality for human consumption

Buitrago del Lozoya is one of those small towns in the mountains of Madrid that surprises you. One of its many charms is its formation, with meanders and gorges in the landscape as the Lozoya River passes through the village. This river waters the valley and gives name to many of the mountain villages accompanying its course. It begins in the Natural Park of Peñalara, and is the primary source for the Community of Madrid's water supply. Its water is considered one of the highest quality for human consumption. It's a tributary of the River Jarama, which is also the Tagus.
