1 review of Martha Statue

A tribute to ordinary people

Around the French market, there are statues representing characters from everyday New Orleans. Here, we find Martha, described as a client of the market. Her basket is full, and she seems a little melancholy in her Victorian dress. This bronze sculpture by Paul Perret was installed here in 1983, and is interesting as a tribute to ordinary people, so rarely represented in this type of art.
