Neist Point Lighthouse

Neist Point es el punto más occidental de la isla de Skye. Situado al oeste de la población de Dunvegan, en la península de Duirinish, la llegada a él es bastante complicada. Hay coger una carretera que va desde Dunvegan y agudizar el sentido de la orientación porque está muy mal señalizada y ni el GPS te indica el sitio exacto, nosotros llegamos al final preguntando a el único lugareño que encontramos por el camino. La carretera es una de las que ya os parecerán típicas después de unos días por la zona, muy estrecha y con passing places para cruzarse con otros coches, aunque la verdad que no hay muchos por aquella zona. Una vez se acaba la carretera nos encontramos con un paisaje espectacular. Unos enormes acantilados dan paso a una preciosa bahía con un peñón en medio, detrás de éste (en principio no se ve) se encuentra el faro. Para llegar al faro y a la parte alta del peñón hay que bajar por una cuesta bastante empinada, pero merece la pena sentarse en la cima de este saliente gigante para disfrutar de un sitio tan tranquilo y perdido del mundo. Si ya de por si la Isla de Skye es un lugar fabuloso, naturaleza en estado puro, este pequeño rincón es mucho más, algo que no debéis perderos si la visitáis.

Neist Point is the westernmost point of the Isle of Skye. Located west of the town of Dunvegan, on the peninsula of Duirinish, the arrival of it's quite complicated. There catch a road from Dunvegan and sharpen the sense of direction because it is poorly signed and neither the GPS tells you the exact location, we come to the end asking the only local who found along the way. The road is one that will seem typical and after a few days in the area, very narrow with passing places to cross with other cars, though admittedly not many for that area. Once the road ends we find spectacular scenery. Enormous cliffs give way to a beautiful bay with a rock in the middle, behind it (in principle not seen) is the lighthouse. To get to the lighthouse and the top of the rock have to go down a fairly steep hill, but worth it sit on top of this giant projection to enjoy a place so quiet and lost in the world. If already if the Isle of Skye is a fabulous place, pure nature, this little corner is much more, something not to be missed if you visit.

En el lugar más occidental de Escocia está el faro de Neist Point, un lugar apartado y agreste que requiere una maravillosa ruta en coche por carreteras de un sólo carril (para los dos sentidos!) y una buena caminata bajando y subiendo entre ovejas y gaviotas, para alcanzar un punto donde se puede ver una panorámica espectacular. El faro dominando un acantilado irreal, y al fondo las islas Hébridas Exteriores. Un lugar mágico de los que recuerdan a una postal, pero no lo son; realmente están ahí. Un lugar imprescindible para entender la esencia de un país como Escocia y más aún, la isla de Skye.

In the most western of Scotland is the lighthouse at Neist Point, a remote and rugged that requires a wonderful drive along route one lane roads (for both directions!) And a hike down and up between sheep and gulls to reach a point where you can see a spectacular view. The lighthouse overlooking a cliff unreal, and the background the Outer Hebrides. A magical place reminiscent of a postcard, but they are, really are there. A must for understanding the essence of a country like Scotland and further, the Isle of Skye.

Situado en una punta de la isla de Skye, para llegar al faro hay que transitar estrechas carreteras rodeadas de ovejas. Las vistas merecen la pena y los atardeceres deben ser estupendos en este lugar.

Situated on the edge of the island of Skye, to reach the lighthouse must travel narrow roads surrounded sheep. The views are worthwhile and should be great sunsets here.

Trás conducir casi una hora por caminos de cabras, llegamos literalmene al final de camino, allí había una pequeño aparcamiento, y un sendero que llevaba hasta el faro, mientras todos bajaban el sendero, nosotros decidimos meternos a la derecha, campo a través, y así descubrimos este sobrecogedor lugar

Trás drive almost an hour a goat paths, we literalmene the end of the road, there was a small parking lot, and one path leading to the lighthouse, while everyone down the trail, we decided to get right, cross country, and we discovered this eerie place

Caminata de cuestas con mosquitos comiendo vivo. Vistas impresionantes desde arriba, no merece la pena la travesía andando hasta el faro. Y mucho menos si vais con niños pequeños, porque llegareis agotados.

Walk slopes with mosquitoes eating you alive. Breathtaking views from above, not worth the trip walk to the lighthouse. Much less if you go with small children, because will arrive exhausted.

Vivimos una de las experiencias más inolvidables de nuestras vidas en este roadtrip por Escocia pero si tenemos que elegir uno, sin duda nos quedamos con este recóndito faro que nos dejó sin palabras.

We live one of the most memorable experiences of our lives in this roadtrip through Scotland but if we have to choose one, we will definitely stay with this recndito lighthouse that left us speechless.
