Oulu: 6th biggest city in Finland

Oulu is a town in the Finnish region of Ostrobothnia. It has a population of about 140,000 people, making it the 6th biggest city in Finland and most of the northern half of Finland. It is the leading city in northern Finland, and has a technology park housing the University of Oulu. The entire province of Oulu was, from the geographical point of view, a transition zone between north and south, which is saying that the demarcation is natural between Lapland and Southern Lakes region. The foundation of Oulu was from August 8, 1605 by King Charles IX of Sweden before the castle was constructed on the island of Linnansaari.
