Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park

1 review of Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park

The Righteous Among the Nations

The Righteous Among the Nations was a name given to non-Jews ve gave or risked their lives to help save the Jews from the Nazis. There is a monument honoring the Righteous Among the Nations in the Raoul Wallenberg Holocaust Memorial Park in the garden behind the Dohany Street Synagogue. One of the more interesting names to appear is Angel Sanz Briz, a virtually-unknown Spanish consular officer ve saved some 5,200 Jews (for comparison, Oskar Schindler saved 1,200) by giving them Spanish passports and opening the embassy as a safe house.
