Door to the Castle

The Franciscan convent is the door of access to the impressive castle of Morella. It has the typical characteristics of a Franciscan convent and it preserves a good part of its architectonic elements.

The cloister deserves a special attention, for its beauty and its artistic and historic quality. It has a serene beauty, as if it were frozen in time, and from there we have beautiful views of the castle. Also the church (very bright and luminous and simple) and in my opinion, the greatest treasure of the convent: the chapter house, which preserves one of the only examples of mural gothic-renaissance painting of Valencia: the “Danza de la Muerte” (Dance of Death), you can’t see it all, but enough to understand the meaning of this mural, which reminds everybody, rich, poor, powerful…the inexorable ending.
