The essence of Italy

Excellent

Sassari is located in the north of the island and is the second-largest city in Sardinia. It's not a famous tourist attraction which, in my opinion, only adds to its appeal. The medieval city is full of narrow streets full of drying clothes and potted plants, a typical sight in Mediterranean cities. The medieval section of town begins at Piazza de la Universidad where the Palazzo Deubal and Cathedral are located. Later, the new city (built in the 19th century) is located near Piazza de Italia and the Via Roma. There's also a lovely public garden and I'd suggest visiting the Church of Santa Maria

Beauty and tranquility

Sassari can seem small at first until you realize just how much there is to see. It’s a somewhat expensive city (though just a tad more expensive than mainland Italy) and there are lots of great places to east. Also, thanks to its location on the island, Sassari is the perfect starting point to explore all corners of Sardinia.

A Renaissance city

Sassari is a great base of operations to visit the main attractions of northern Sardinia like Asinara and Alghero. However, the city of Sassari itself also has plenty to see. One of my favorite parts was the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, famous for its Baroque façade. Another iconic monument is the Rosello fountain. What else is there to see? For starters, The Palazzo Ducal, the Torre de San Antonio, and the Sardinian Ethnographic Museum. I promise you won’t get bored!
