Cette statue est l’œuvre du sculpteur Louis Ernest Barrias en hommage aux parisiens qui gardèrent courage pour défendre la capitale lors du siège de Paris en 1870-1871. Cette statue ne correspond pas du tout aux autres œuvres d’art que l’on peut trouver dans le quartier de la Défense. Datant de 1883, bien avant que se pointent les immeubles de verre et d’acer, la statue La Défense de Paris a été réinstallée quand les travaux furent achevés. C’est à cette statue que l’on doit le nom du quartier des affaires de Courbevoie.

This statue is the work of sculptor Louis Ernest Barrias in tribute to Parisian who kept courage to defend the city during the siege of Paris in 1870-1871. This statue does not match any of the other works of art that can be found in the district of La Defense. Dating back to 1883, well before the point is glass buildings and acer, the statue of La Défense Paris was relocated when the work was completed.
