The Port of Wismar
We did not know where to eat in Wismar, and the truth is that there isn't much information in Spanish so we just decided to walk to the port. The Water Gate, is one of the leftovers from a set of walls and gates surrounding the city for its defense and control and it leads directly to the sea. The port is not too big, but it is exciting to imagine it as it once was with ships bringing new wealth and exotic things to the city. The city, as part of the Hanseatic coalition was an indispensable piece to make it work the economic machinery of the corporation, and its port was essential for the receipt and shipment of goods.
