Precious and semiprecious stones abound in Rishiskesh. You can buy them uncut to work on them yourself, or already shaped and embedded in a noble metal. On the road from Laxman Jhula and it's surrounding streets, you will find many craft shops to buy some items at a great price. Many of these stones have astrological or magical qualities, others are simply beautiful. It will not be difficult to find Pannas (emeralds), Meenas, or moon rocks. Gems of marine origin are also sold by weight. One is white and identified as 'the eye of Shiva', one of the three most important deities of Hinduism. Rishikesh works a lot of silver and also stones, using seeds.
