Restaurants in Punta Cana
Capitán Cook
(11)
One of the most popular places to eat seafood is the Captain Cook restaurant. Do not expect a very elegant place, (it is actually a "stall") or a very attentive service, but it doesn´t disappoint in regards to its seafood, fresh as if it had just been collected seconds before putting it on the table. The grill is very abundant and they have lobster (the specialty), crab, shrimp, squid, fish, all accompanied with chips, a spicy "mahi", desserts, drinks and a glass of mamahuana, compliments of the restaurant. It is best to reserve a table yourself, because if you do it from the Hotel or by some "intermediary" agency the price comes out to be more expensive. The price is about 30 Euros for the barbecue, and you can walk along the beach, and not too far from the resorts of Punta Cana. I particularly recommend it for dinner, as there are fewer people there and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore sets the tone of charm for the evening.

El Conuco
(11)
If you look up the meaning of the Spanish word "conuco", you'll find that it refers to a piece of land cultivated by a poor man, or by the Tainos, the early residents of the Dominican Republic. Well, the restaurant El Conuco is a little piece of that kind of land in the heart of the bustling city of Santo Domingo. There are huge clusters of banana at the entrance, and the unusual decor is sure to raise a smile. Within you can find both tourists eager to try the very essence of the Dominican Republic, and locals who want to redisover their roots. The cuisine is the Conuco Creole style, the traditional food of the Dominican people. This restaurant has won awards at the Dominican Gastronomic Festival for dishes like comai cod (cod fillet in a creamy sauce), chicken merengue (diced chicken breast with mushroom sauce) and conuco rice (rice with vegetables and pork rinds). And that chicken with sauce ... it makes my mouth water just thinking about it! But the best thing about this restaurant isn't the food - it's the entertainment. You can see traditional music and dance, bachata, merengue, etc ... live music, in the traditional costumes. Delicious healthy food, full of flavour, and a great experience!

Colmado Omar II
(2)
While we were visiting the colonial city we decided to take a break and sit down for a drink so we thought about going to one of the typical terraces in Columbus Park but the guide ve accompanied us offered to take us to a more native place, so we ended up in Colmado Omar, which is almost opposite the Palace of Borgellá. The colmados are small shops with a bar area where you can enjoy a drink. Prices are local, so for tourists it is very cheap. The basement of the building where was this colmado was located was shared between this colmado and a small money exchange shop where we tried to change 200 euros to dollars. The exchange rate was not great, about 10 cents below the official rate, what a ripoff!! As we were given a pile of bills, we weren't given a receipt and one of the 50 dollar bills was ripped and to top it off it turned out to be fake! In the whole week we couldn't pay for anything with it as everyone rejected it. So, never go to one of these exchange stores and always check the bills, one by one.

Hard Rock Cafe Santo Domingo
(4)
The terrace of the legendary Hard Rock Cafe is a great place to take a break in the center of the colonial city, as it is located on one side of Columbus Park, opposite the Monument to Christopher Columbus, with spectacular views of the First Cathedra. The dining area is very large, has two stories, and there are also sometimes shows and concerts.

José Province of Ocoa is located in the southwest of the Dominican Republic in the south of Central Cordillera , called Sierra de Ocoa. It was created in 2000, and has a population of over 60,000 inhabitants. The basic agriculture is producing coffee, potatoes and other minor products. There is little tourist infrastructure, but has great potential for eco-tourism. The Rancho Francisco complex and has a pleasant atmosphere and design because it is a semi open construction and was constructed with local wood and roofed with palm leaves. There's a restaurant and meeting room which is also used for events. Swimming pool and several beautiful cottages in a quiet area and tropical area. If you wish to use our services is advisable to book in advance, especially with in relation to food. Ocoa City is close and easy to get to with transport, you can even travel by in "motoconcho" and live that experience. The city, though small, is very attractive and the locals are always ready to help.

Mare Nostrum
(3)
The Mare Nostrum restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine, and is adjacent to the hotel lobby [poi = 112098] in the Grand Palladium Palace [/ poi]. Only open at night, it is a theme restaurant for a la carte dinner. I didn't really feel like Italian that night, but it was really good. To start there is a serve-yourself salad and meat buffet. Then you choose the a first course, second course and a dessert from a menu. It's a huge amount of food and really filling. For example, I first asked for a lasagna and a seafood risotto, so I couldn't eat a dessert. It was all delicious! There were also many different pizzas, pasta with different sauces, scallops with cheese, etc.

I passed by that corner not even thinking of eating when my feet kept walking but my eyes couldn´t stop looking at the colors and textures that made my mouth water. When I reacted I could stop by meet before my neck started to turn. I couldn´t help but ask for a pastry and a coffee to try what tasted like how it looked.

Restaurante Arrecife

This restaurant is situated in the beach area of the hotel Grand Palladium Bavaro. It is open for breakfast and lunch and offers a casual atmosphere with buffet lunch, and for dinner a themed restaurant where you can choose your food a la carte. As for the buffet, the quality and variety is similar to other restaurants in the complex: There is a lot to choose from, and there is everything you can think of! It has the advantage that if you are on the beach and close to it, you can go and eat until 15h, without the need for formal dress on the outdoor terrace. They also have snacks and barbecue (burgers, hot dogs ...). Dinners are a la carte, and the specialty is fish and seafood. I did not eat dinner here, because we were told by other people that the dinner wasn´t very good.

Rancho la Cumbre Restaurant

I visited this place a few days ago and was very impressed. It´s a welcoming place, cool, for being in the mountains, with a beautiful view of the Moca and Santiago Valleys. I was truly fascinated by its splendour. For all the people who like to appreciate the beauty of nature you must go and remember me.

El Pulpo Cojo

We had dinner there one night in August. It was spectacular. The place had the sea next door, and sofas on the sand, lights that were also built in the sand ... A divine place at night .. And I imagine totally it is totally different during the day with the same beach and same sand.

Museo del Jamón

Here, you´ll eat well but it is a bit expensive. The Plaza de España is for tourists only as you can only pay in euros or dollars. The food is Spanish-style and not bad. Pan tumaca with real ham (which is hard to get here). Sometimes, they bring flamenco dancers to liven up the day. It is, of course, the most beautiful place in the Colonial District.

Although others recommended having dinner at this restaurant, our experience was really terrible. Like other Palladium resort themed restaurants, it was open for dinner only from 18.30 to 22h and non-smoking. It is situated next to the lobby Grand Palladium Palace. It's an a la carte Brazilian restaurant, but they have a very strange way of serving their customers. On the table you have a card with two colors, one side is green (this means you want to keep eating) and the reverse side is red (meaning that you're done and want to order dessert). First you serve what you want from the salad bar, and then the "show" begins: While you have the little card on the green side, the waiters walk around with huge pieces of metal with pieces of meat hanging from them (turkey, chicken, lamb, pork, sausage ...). The drawbacks we found were:-The meat was overly cooked, and it was as hard as a rock. -You have to wait for the waiter to come with the sword to serve you a small piece of meat, so you have to digest between eating each small piece of meat. It was terrible and I don´t recommend it.

Bar Cafe Ashe
(1)
When we mention Bar Cafe Ashe we're talking about a new cafe-restaurant-bar where Cuban food is the specialty. With this place's "come again" atmosphere and a first class service you'll be sure to become a repeat customer! Prices are good and excellent quality. Open every day from morning until late at night. The best mojitos that can be taken and Cuban sandwiches as few! See you there!

Restaurante Portofino

When you stay several days in one of the Bahia Principe resorts you can eat at one of their themed restaurants. We took the opportunity to visit the Italian restaurant in the hotel, which provided a nice change in the dinner options. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the food was a fusion between traditional Italian and tropical Dominican cuisine.
Restaurants in Río San Juan
Café de París, Color y Sabor. Restaurant
With the Laguna grigri right in front of the pleasant restaurant and hospitality of its owner Marc, we're left to enjoy the delicacies we choose here. The menu options allow us to savor Dominican and French cuisines, always with a nice presentation, background music and bright colors of the decor which combine our favor. If you can't seem to decide on a dessert I recommend the flan. It's made with cream the owner brings over from France to delight us with its amazing taste. Children get special attention here, too. Apart from the restaurant's bar and also offers wireless internet service. I recommend having an unforgettable experience to try their food, which is also very affordable. Until next time.
