Catania is a lively and virbant city in Sicily. In the centre of the Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III, at the junction with the famous Via Etna, you can't miss this great bar. It has everything to quench your thirst, and is always full of people of all ages. You can enjoy delicious granitas here. Don't miss it!
Ernesto is one of those places popular with locals, where you can try the regional specialties. Here you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a drink, and relax in the outdoor area with the sea just over the road. I recommend the ice cream, and especially the cannoli which are a true wonder - fresh ricotta cheese which fits perfectly to the wafer, studded with jewel-like pistachios. One is not enough! The heavenly chocolate melts in your mouth. If you're feeling nervous, they also make a mini-version, and if you really want to indulge, they deliver to anywhere in Italy within 12 hours.
In the historic heart of Catania, very close to Castello Ursino Camelot lies the restaurant. It has a medieval décor and there are many tables inside, plus a large terrace outside. The service is very fast as there are many waiters. This is one of those restaurants where you know you will eat well without it hurting you wallet because it is always full of locals. In the menu you will find meat, fish and pasta. Although the star of the menu is the Focaccia Regina, we opted to try more meat dishes cooked on the grill. Among them we tried the di carne di cavallo polpetta (horse meat burger, which you can see in the photo), the cipollata (it is wrapped in bacon and onions and cooked on the grill), the salciccia condita (very spicy sausage), and chicken and involtini di pesce di sword ( a few rolls of chicken or swordfish stuffed with ham and cheese and skewered) If you go by Catania do not forget to stop by. WIthout a doubt you will enjoy it just as much as we enjoyed it.
A picturesque corner of Catania, where you can grab a coffee or a pizza in the evening, enjoying a very special view. The terrace is, in fact, overlooking the harbour of Ognina. The restaurant is tastefully furnished, enhanced by the large windows offering beautiful sea views.
Make reservations, because this restaurant is always full, with at least three turnovers on the tables every night! It is tidy and friendly, with genuine gourmet cuisine. The menu features very tasty seafood specialties, and prepared with the catch of the day (displayed in a glass case next to the entrance). The wine list features both local and national wines.
This is where Spanish dishes come with the Italian gastronomy. There is an excellent chef, Julia, ve worked at the table of Giuseppe and Mercedes. It has exquisite cuisine with a high quality of products and a price that is more than acceptable.
Carmelo Chiaramonte invites you to sample gourmet dishes: Modica macco bean, black spaghetti with cuttlefish to prawns, fresh tagliatelle with pork juice and caponata with ricotta and mint with cocoa, among other things on the menu.
Dinner was spectacular and the typical food of the area is a sauce made from pistachios that they put in whatever type of pasta (of course with the pasta always being present.) What is certain is that we went back another day to the same place and it wasn´t the same, but the first night we ate a luxurious dinner and our stomaches were full and we could enjoy the city even more.
