This summer I was in Hondarribia, a beautiful town with a great gastronomic culture, where they really take care of the quality, presentation and making of the pintxos.
The Gran Sol is a tapas and pintxos bar with several awards (among them the Silver Dish in the 8th Pintxo Championship of Guipúzcoa 2006), and one of the most frequented places by locals.
It is amazing and I’m wishing to go back to drink a glass of wine accompanied by one of its best pintxos: foie, goat cheese with anchovies, vol-au-vent with cheese.
I recommend it 100 %!
A very simple place but with great fish. It is impossible to walk away with a bad impression.
It is located in the heart Hondarribia, within a short walk from the old town, the marina, and the promenade of Butron. It is also close to the boat that takes you to Hendaye.
It is recommended to stroll along the marina. Its a very charming place.
To eat well in Hondarribia, I recommend the restaurant Yola Berri, near the marina. Specializing in traditional Basque cuisine, they offer a hake in green sauce and extraordinary clams. However, I prefer their grilled shrimp accompanied by a glass of chilled white wine ... Everything is tasty, has great quality and reasonable prices.
I love this restaurant, is at the bottom of Mount Jaizkibel. From Basque décor, this town has a big area where they have vineyards, fruit and olive trees, which they use to make their tasty dishes. The owner has been the largest producer of olive oil in Gipuzkoa. A risky investment with all the rain It is a typical restaurant for weddings, and I can ensure that both the service and the food tables, are very good. Also has beautiful gardens where you can take some really cool photos. A huge children park opposite the downside, that to reach it, the children have to cross the parking lot. It is also curious, the fishing vessel having anchored at the rear.
Not recommendable. In the beginning it was a fantastic place for the refurbishment because of its relationship with the world of sport and entertainment, great value for money and the desire and enthusiasm of its staff. But a lot has changed, the service is not the same, staff lacks attention and respect for the customer. La place will not meet the demands, the prices are ridiculous, you must swallow a lot of patience. I really want to enjoy the company. Anyway, it took away my desire to return, I wish I could to return to their early times.
A small but very cozy restaurant located in the old town of Hondarribia. It is very good value for money. The exterior is a bit sloppy but inside the restaurant is nice and the service is very attentive. It is one of my favorite restaurants. Booking is essential, as the restaurant is usually full. To find the restaurant, you have to take the alleyway just before you reach the village. Calle Sol is on the right. And after eating, there is nothing like getting lost in the narrow streets of the old town, or going down to the Marina. If we are in Hendaye, the quickest way is to take the boat from the harbor, which in a few minutes from Hondarribia.
The other day I was celebrating a communion in this restaurant. It had been a long time since I had such good food. The presentation of the dishes and the waiters' attention was great. In short, I recommend it for any celebration
Here are the best burgers in the area, this is local "life", that's always packed and is small. From the bar you can see how to make and assemble burgers. If you are very busy and the weather is good, I recommend you ask them for take-away and and eat at Paseo de Butron, which is half a minute's walk away, or close to the port.
Enbata Restaurant and Bar is part of the Jauregui hotel, but you don't need to stay in the hotel to dine in the restaurant. When we visited Hondarribia, everyone wanted to go to a different place so we ended up at this restaurant by default. It was not on our list of recommended places to eat, because we have always been a little hesitant about hotel restaurants, but this is an exception. It was champion of the Guipuzcoa Pintxos Contest 2006. First, we had delicious pintxos at the bar and we then chose to sit at the bar to eat instead of in the restaurant, as it wa so nice and all of the tables were occupied. The room was decorated in a marine style, with portholes, fog and wood. We had no idea what to choose, so we were guided by the maitre beans and had ham and tuna salad, beef steak with blue cheese and for dessert, cake and whiskey ice cream. The food was very good, with excellent, fast and friendly service and was great value for money overall.
This is a family restaurant serving delicious traditional food. No wonder that the dining room was full. It is very good value for money. The last meal we had was wonderful so,if we go back, we will ask for mussels and calamari tapas again, the most popular dishes.
