I wouldn’t have expected anything less. Located in the top part of the Gaudí Centre, this restaurant has fantastic views over the Plaza del Mercadal de Reus and a menu that lives up to the artist’s Modernist style.
It was a very welcome surprise and I’d suggest taking advantage of the terrace to have a cool glass of local vermouth before lunch.
I went with my partner for dinner on Saturday. It really isn't a panacea for the decor but it has a special charm. Staff are very attentive and the dishes are not like those found in typical Japanese restaurants. The presentation is elaborate and the food is very well done noticing the nuances of the ingredients without overdoing the sauces. We ordered 3 dishes and had food leftover, although we left room for dessert because we couldn't leave without trying them.
We went yesterday to this Japanese restaurant, run by a Catalan, as we had heard very good things about it. The restaurant is small, nice, without openings and well staffed. As we always do at a new place we ordered a wide selection of dishes, so large that we had to take food home. It is an experience to repeat: everything was very good, the right price and the drinks menu included Japanese sodas! A novelty because in this type of restaurant all you can ask for is Japanese beer or sake. The meats were well cooked and they used quality raw materials, also the speed at which we were served, despite the restaurant being full, was good.
Yesterday my husband invited me to eat at Wok Gu. I had ben before and I was amazed at the amount of change, for good. As the name suggests, at first woks are the strong point of Gu, starters being somewhat marginal and almost anecdotal, but now I do not remember the woks and the entrees are fabulous. It operates a buffet, for about 10 euros you eat all you want and drink to party. For starters and main courses there are delicious coated duck pancakes, breaded eggplant and steamed oriental tapas than one takes a kind of refrigerator or steamer. There is also a great selection of maki and sushi emerging from running sushi conveyor belt directly from the kitchen. There are delicious skewers with peanut sauce. Service is fast, efficient, very polite and perfect. The restaurant is cozy, I'd say even elegant Oriental décor. In conclusion, for me is the best wok in the province and one of the best restaurants for value.
The Pastry Poy in Reus is a classic where we usually go when walking in the city. It features a shop and a cafe where you can taste their delicious products. The level of the confectioner is very high and there are all kinds of sweet and salty items. Buenos cakes, rich tea biscuits and at this time, delicious panellets. The Pastry Poy is very central and easy to find, there are often queues, but there are enough staff so you don't have to wait too long.
Pastisseria created in 1991 by the great master craftsman Francesc Torres, it has been recognized and rewarded by Jordi Pujol. It holds the Guiness Record for the longest chocolate bar in the world - it was made in Calle Mare Molas.
Taverna is a pleasant place, good treatment, family, ideal and perfect for tapas or dinner with friends accompanied by a good beer. Generous portions, well cooked, quiet and some good prices. I think I'll repeat. It is very close to Plaza Llibertat, so no problem parking.
Within the cuisine of Reus lies an oasis of quality and quantity of their tapas, and all caramelized with prices fit for a low cost restaurant. Extensive tapas menu for those like me who devour tapas, and a menu worthy of gourmet dishes for those most sybaritic. A specialty among so much on offer is the Fried Eggs any style. You can't go without trying. Spectacular.
A bar with its own style, decorated in a Western and biker style, playing country and blues music and there´s some very nice people. The tapas were good, and we dared to have a torrada which left us speechless: it was 3 cm thick - amazing! I recommend this place to everyone, there´s a terrace in the Plaza, it´s air-conditioned and has exposed wooden beams. A lovely place.
