Enjoy a fantastic meal at a small, local microbrewery!
Radius Brewing company has chef specials every week and fantastic pizza with thick marinara sauce. Order the vegetarian pizza for a nice twist featuring kale and caramelized onions. The pork belly appetizer is also a hit. Bite size pieces are the perfect amount as you sip your IPA beers (like Rumor Has It) and wait for your pizza or sandwich to arrive.
They are closed on Tuesdays and busy on the weekends, but always a great stop. Well worth pulling off the interstate and into the heart of Emporia! A wide variety of beer choices as well. Get a flight of beer to enjoy all the options available!
In order to get to the dining room at Hell's Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis you have to head downstairs- into the basements of the building. Fitting, considering the name of the place. The waiting room is decked out in various shades of red, such that you almost feel like you might be sitting in the waiting room for hell- except a lot more comfortably.
Breakfasts and brunches are the most popular meal at Hell's Kitchen so expect a wait- a very long wait if you have a larger party of people. The meals are exquisite though- purchase a cookbook from their store on their way out if you enjoyed the food as much as I do! Lemon, ricotta pancakes and bison sausages are divine and their iconic porridge: the Mahnomen Porridge- made with wild rice. You can't say you've eaten at Hell's Kitchen until you've eating the Mahnomen Porridge! And don't forget to try their uber-spicy (ok, just right on the spice) bloody mary!
The weekends always treat you to a live cover band as well, so it's great treat the whole family can enjoy.
Walking down the pavement in old town of Mankato in the dead of summer it's easy to get overheated and start to fantasize about something cold to munch on. It's about that point that you'll happen upon Mom & Pop's Ice cream shop, and it will live up to your greatest expectations and more! Flavors upon flavors of ice cream they have something for everyone- they even have dairy free options for those that are lactose intolerant!
Their waffle cones are made in house and are absolutely phenomenal. Home made fudge can be nibbled on the side as well.
It's a locally owned business by owners who care and who will go the extra mile to have a wonderful conversation with you and who donate their tips to animals in need. They even have a "cookie jar" full of dog treats so that you can sit on the outside patio and give your pup something to enjoy at the same time you do.
