Rio Ranch is a family restaurant, a kind of Tex-Mex diner. On the menu you can find everything from burgers to enchiladas and a wide variety of tacos. The restaurant owner is Johnny, a Mexican who has spent half his life cooking in Texas and has learned to create the best of the flavors of both countries. The service is fast and very friendly with waitresses that display typical southern kindness, a little old-fashioned but charming.
When you're in San Antonio, be sure to go for a walk along the Riverwalk. To make the experience more complete, sit down for a drink, or eat at one of the many restaurants, bars or cafes. Most of them have terraces as well as tables inside, and there are even some on boats. The price range are medium-high, but it's a particularly nice area and it can be worth it for the experience and the quality of the food. San Antonio has been named the most romantic destination in the United States, largely thanks to these restaurants that flank the river. Go for it, and give yourself a special moment.
I am very pleased to recommend this place, which offers a fantastic variety of Mexican food in the city of Santa Fe NM. The sizes of the dishes are very generous and the prices are affordable. It has great service and is perfect for a night after a busy day travelling in the desert. The decor is also very nice.
Kuhl Yogurt is a frozen yogurt dessert chain. They also have frozen or normal iced teas or waffles. Currently, there are three open: in Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and another in Boerne. The Fredericksburg location can seat about 10 people and has a large porch outside to accommodate at least 15 more. All furniture is made from recycled materials and the nutritional information is posted on the wall. The frozen yogurt is self-serve: you get a glass the size you want, you serve yourself a variety of yogurt. And then you add the toppings you want. When you finish your masterpiece, take her to the cashier, where the charge is by weight. A little treat for the hot afternoon.
59 Diner is an American restaurant par excellence! With retro-style red leather booths, waitresses in kitschy uniforms, and unlimited coffee, Diner 59 serves simple all-American food at reasonable prices. I'd recommend the chicken and waffles...you get two fluffy waffles covered in maple syrup and fried chicken wings.
Buffalo Wild Winds is a chain of sports bar with lots of TVs on the wall showing the latest football, baseball, or basketball games. Ideal place to go have some beers and wings with friends, but probably not the best place if you want to have an intimate conversation. They serve typical bar food like wings, chicken fingers, burgers, and salads.
This Starbucks is located in the Barnes and Noble. It's your typical Starbucks, but the atmosphere is different: it's super quiet and almost everyone is reading. All in all, it's a calm and peaceful place where you can enjoy a coffee and some quality time with your new book.
La Madeleine is a chain restaurant with several locations throughout the Dallas area. They serve French style food, and have their own bakery in each store. The decor is reminiscent of a traditional French restaurant with warm color tones, and stone and wood structuring. The restaurant has a main menu, but some items are not available in every store. Not to worry, as you are sure to find something delicious no matter when or where you visit. Locals enjoy La Madeleine mostly for their breakfast menu. Croque monsieur, quiche, and of course the ever delicious French croissant are just some of the many options available. Breakfast is served all day long. Save room for desert!
The bakery presents an array of delicious treats. My personal favorite are the chocolate croissants. It is a rather large croissant filled with rich chunks of chocolate. Their cookies are delectable and while we were visiting they had samples available featuring their seasonal lemon cookie. The prices can add up quick, so watch for seasonal or sale items to stretch your dollar.
They serve all kinds of main dishes and snacks, and even Western dishes if you're not too fond of Chinese, such as pizza, chicken, ice-cream, etc.
Great place to hang out with friends and family, or even for a date.
I discovered Bee's Mexican while walking to Market Square. It's located on Commerce Street, just three minutes from the popular market and directly opposite the Spanish Governor's Palace. It is the kind of place that goes unnoticed among tourists, because from the outside looks more like a shop than a restaurant. Even if you peer inside, the layout of the room (somewhat dark with no windows) usually dissuades the tourists looking for something more inviting. However, this restaurant is run by a Mexican family that serves tasty homemade food at unbeatable prices. I ordered 3 mini tacos pastor and a glass of water and it cost $3.21. Unbeatable.
Saltgrass is one of the many restaurants you'll find the Riverwalk. There are some outdoor tables so you can soak up the Riverwalk atmosphere, but the Western-style interior is just as nice. For its location, it's really not an expensive place. I got the baked potato soup and it was pretty good (though I had actually ordered the tortilla soup). However, it did take half an hour to bring the food. I also got the Hickory chicken burger with BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, mushrooms and jack cheese and it was delicious. The kitchen is open late (10:00pm) and they have free wi-fi.
Home to the 72-ounce FREE steak, if you can finish it in an hour along with baked potato, bread and salad, the Big Texan Steak Ranch offers a restaurant, gift shop and motel located on historic Route 66.
Cracker Barrel is a chain restaurant that serves country-style American food like apple pie, steaks, corn on the cob, and chili. It's a family-friendly place and most the clientele seemed to be elderly or families with kids. Before you enter the restaurant, there's a little general store selling things like jams, blankets, cookware, clothing and more. It's a nice place to look around while you're waiting to be seated.
Great restaurant in new and vibrant development let of downtown San Antonio. Lots of activities to do around the pearl and close access to river walk extension. Restaurant has very good texas and American food and great ambiance as well.
