This wonderful neo-classic plaza is a wonderful place, but, in my opinion, it has too much gold, even though, that's surely what Louis le Grand wished for. I especially recommend visiting the merchants and sellers of wafers that you can see in the background in some of the pictures, yummy!
The Pepiniere Park is a green area, but also a mini zoo (there are rabbits, monkeys and other animals). There is also a bandstand and a roundabout with wooden horses, and sculptures, including some by Rodin. After that you can go to visit Place Stanislas, after taking a little walk behind the park.
The Museum of Fine Arts was built in 1793 as a testimony to the walls of architecture and the urban evolution of Nancy. Located under one of the flags in the Place Stanislas, it was extended in 1936. Though never completed, the expansion project was resumed in 1995 by a team led by the architects of Nancy Laurent Beaudouin. Resolutely contemporary, the new extension of the museum has doubled its surface and is now more equipped with functional spaces.
Separating the Old City from the New Town, one of the places to visit in Nancy, France is the Stanislas Plaza. It is a great example of French classicism, built in 1752 by order of the dethroned king of Poland, Stanislas Leczinski, in honor of his son, King Louis XV. Today it is one of the Nancy attractions that travelers cannot miss. In the square you can also find other interesting things to see in Nancy such as the Museum of Fine Arts, the Opera House and Hotel de Ville (City Hall).
The Heré Door connects Stanislas with the Place de la Carrière, the second of the three famous squares of the city, where the Bourse de Commerce and the Government Palace are found. Finally, Alliance Square completes the famous architectural ensemble of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. These three places are famous attractions in Nancy that must be added to the any tourists to-do list.
But plazas are not the only things to do in Nancy. Around the Ducal Palace in the Old Town you'll find other stuff to do in Nancy such as Basilica of Saint Epvre and the church of the Cordeliers. Make sure you do not forget the parks and gardens of the city when thinking about what to do in Nancy. The most popular are Pepiniere Park (which houses the Nancy Zoo, one of the kid-friendly Nancy activities), Parc Blondlot, Water Garden, and L'ecole de Nancy.
