Only 4km from the Ferrari Museum is the Acetaia Boni where you can experience the other classic industry of Modena. The charming owner explains the tradition of making balsamic vinegar and offers a tasting of the 15 and 30 year old "black gold" (in English or Italian).
Whenever a new child is born a Modenese family lays down a series of casks made from different woods and filled with mosto cotto. The vinegar reaches maturation in time for marriage of the child. There is a fabulous collection of traditional vinegar jugs and assorted farming tools.
Credit card payments are accepted and the sweetness of the 30 year vintage is hard to resist. It can also soothe coughs.
