I had never seen so many storks together in one place, and I’m not exaggerating. In fact, this city is known as one of the main colonies for these peculiar birds.
It was, for sure, one of the strongest memories I recall when thinking of Alfaro, but not the only one. I did not spend much time in this charming village since I was just passing by, but I had a good impression, especially of the bell tower of the Colegiata where you can enjoy some incredible views surrounded by the famous storks.
Sotos del Ebro Nature Reserve is a scenic spot where the Ebro forms a dreamy landscape and an even dreamier river beach near Alfaro. It is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. As we were told, is also a traditional place for the locals to get away from the city and have picnics. Honestly, I really liked it.
Every trip to La Rioja has to include a visit to a winery. If not, it would not be a trip to La Rioja. And this is true, whether you like wine or not... All jokes apart, it is something you really have to do. Wine is art and science and you always learn something from an oenological visit. Campo Nuble is an interesting winery. On the one hand, because they make great wine and, on the other, because they organized it well enought to receive visitors. They can even prepare a wine tasting session and teach you how to appreciate the value of wines. We had a great time in a wine tasting class where we learned a lot.
