Most frequented at night, with several restaurants, and thousands of shops to visit and lovely houses to see, where you can see Islamic culture at its peak. The curious thing are the boats at the door of each house, with access to the sea.
This castle-shaped building is actually a monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus and his arrival in the "New World". It was built by Dr. Esteban Martin y Martin, with the help of two masons from the nearby town of Mijas, between the years 1987-1994. It's a tribute to the discovery of America. The castle has many different architectural styles, like the Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic, and Mudejar. Inside, it houses the world's smallest church, from the Guinness Book of World Records, dedicated to St. Elizabeth of Hungary. It's open to the public daily. The entrance fee is 2 euros for adults and 1,30 euros for children and seniors.
The truth is we found it by chance, our purpose was not to visit but it coincided with our visit to Selwo Marina, at the exit, we saw the signs and stopped by. it was very good, large, with a variety of areas for everyone, ideal for taking children. Maybe a little abandoned or neglected for taking pets, but as I say, my daughter had a great time.
For me, visiting Benalmádena Stupa was wonderful. I was impressed by the size, location, height, and views. The meditation room was lovely and the ground floor had a very interesting exhibition on Buddhism. It's certainly a must if you're in the area. It also has a veranda with spectacular views of Fuengirola. You also have the butterfly Benalmadena just a few meters away.
The truth is that being really close to where we live, we got away for the day to the park so that our daughter could enjoy playing between the animals. It was super fun! We went in 2006 when she was only 5 years and she was quite an animal lover! The park is great to take little ones to and discover things about the animal world. The sight of the birds is phenomenal.
The Benalmádena Promenade is a lovely walk during the day, but I advise you to go at night because during the summer it's very hot. The beach is huge, and the promenade is surrounded by restaurants, bars and shops where you can go buy any gift for the family. There are lots of sea shells that collectors will love to see and gather, and it's large and beautiful. You can rent deck chairs all day for a good price, and the water is great!
You get the best views of the Costa del Sol! The day we went to the amusement park Tivoli World we took advantage to enjoy the Benalmádena Cable Car as you catch it right in front of the entrance. It could come from Torremolinos as we came by train, stopping underground in Arroyo de la Miel and then it was only 500 or 600 meters away or if you are staying in Benalmadena there is a tourist train that leaves you at the gateway. The price of the trip goes from 7.30 € if you picked up One way or € 13.00 if you choose roundtrip, the price is not excessive, and only takes only 15 minutes . The views were what most caught my attention as you can get some of the best views of the Costa del Sol .. something I would strongly recommended!
I love this photo. The lighting and the way the waves break on the rock was special, so I decided to capture it. It was difficult because the water almost reached the camera. The maximum that could be used was a 18-55mm lens.

This photo shows a balcony with the sea in the background. With it I want to express the tranquility and gratitude that I have when I go to the Mediterranean, in particular the village of Benalmadena Costa.
Abundant light, pleasant temperature, the smell that the sea breeze brings - these are more than enough reasons to escape for a few days to this area.
Along the marina in Benalmadena in Malaga, is the SeaLife Aquarium, where you can see fish from the Mediterranean, Atlantic, Indian, Pacific and Red Sea, such as sharks, moray eels, clown fish (nemo). A great day out for all the family!
I have always loved the sea, which is why I began scubadiving and deep sea fishing when I was only 7 years old. Over the years I have acquired much experience in these fields until I decided to become a recreational diving instructor. I love to teach my students and when I have time I go on a lot of dives with lots of underwater pictures. Try it, it´s well worth it.
