"Best Hotel of the Year 2011" is one of the many prizes that this hotel has won and not without reason. Situated in the center of Glasgow, it offers free internet access, 24h kitchen, free movies in several languages, English and European plugs, a living room with huge bed, and a bathroom in capsule form. But there are drawbacks: the sink is outside the bathroom and no closet.
The euro hostel is a hostel-turned-hotel, with facilities that are good, a 5 minutes walk from the central train station, a large breakfast buffet included in the price, and the bed costs starting at £ 16 per person if you reserve through them on their Facebook page. Check in isn´t until 3pm and they charge you a pound if you leave your baggage there until then.
The Cottage Restaurant is a small restaurant situated on the ground floor of a typical house in Inveraray. It is next to a church, in the heart of the village. We went to eat there basically because all the restaurants of the town we looked expensive for what they offered. Scotland is generally much cheaper than England, but as Inveraray is a slightly touristy town most restaurants take advantage of the short season of good weather. We ordered a fish and chip's that was served with tea. Fish was classic, although nothing special, but for an alright price. We also tried a stuffed potato, roasted in the oven with Haggis. The haggis is a Scottish national dish, a sheep lung filled with guts and grass. It is much better than it looks, I assure you! And I recommend to try the sausage roll, which was a strange bread with a flat square sausage and I admit it wasn´t very good. The lunch came out to a bit less than 15 pounds for two people at noon. There aren´t a lot of tables and it was completely packed but the service was quick and quite good to be honest.
The Holiday Inn is in a neighborhood called Glasgow Theatreland. It is a short walk from the central bus station, which takes you directly to the airport, and between the National Theatre and several smaller theaters and CineWorld. It has 113 rooms, of which some are suites. It is in a trendy neighborhood and you have many things around you when you go out, and there is little to offer in terms of food. It is a commercial district that closes at 6pm, apart from the theaters. But it is fine if you do not have transport. Next door is La Bonne Auberge, one of the best restaurants and the city. It costs 85 pounds per night for a double room with private bathroom. Some also have a sofa bed for children to sleep on. For £ 10 you can book with breakfast, and they try to make breakfast more "continental" than the traditional Scottish breakfast made up of sausage and beans. The suites cost 140 pounds per night with breakfast included. The suites are nice but for a normal room Travelodge is usually cheaper.
The Park Inn is the closest hotel to the bus station on Buchanan Street. It's where you leave the airport bus, and are also close to the train station and major shopping streets in Glasgow. It is a very well situated, and it is a cheap if you book in advance. The 4th "Hot Deal" package costs 57 pounds per night. The normal price is 86 pounds. For this price you can have access to the fitness center, and wireless internet. The hotel has 100 rooms which are quite nice, with modern decor and very colorful. All the rooms are non-smoking. There is a restaurant, Oshi, which serves Asian and fusion food. There is also a night bar and room service 24 hours. It's cheap for the amenities and quality of service that you get there, in my opinion.
The Thistle Hotel Glasgow is near the city center, about a 10 minute walk from the Buchanan bus station. If you come by car it is difficult to park there because you have to buy a two-hour ticket each time. There is also a large public parking lot that only charges 1.50 pound from 6pm to 8am. The hotel is located in the new business district that was recently developed with renovations to the city 20 years ago. The rooms are very nice with a king size bed, a desk, a flat screen on the wall, and a small lounge for tea. There are 300 rooms in a large building that is pretty ugly on the outside, but cozy inside. There are some suites and executive rooms as well. The wireless Internet can be used in-room, but for an additional fee. Downstairs, you can enjoy breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. Each room is about 90 pounds.
The British chain Travelodge hotel has 2 hotels in Glasgow, which is normally cheaper than the central one. If you go on public transport it is a little tricky to get there from the station, but it is only a 15 minutes walk away . It's very discreet, and we thought it was difficult to find for the lack of signs. There is a private bathroom in each room with a bath, then the room itself comes with a double bed and a sofa bed for children to sleep in. Prices start at 19 pounds per night, if booked in advance on the web, ie cheaper to share with 10 other people in hostels in the city. No charm, but it is simple and clean. No breakfast, only hosts in front but there are several restaurants.
The Radisson SAS Glasgow is on Argyle Street, a place that is more popular for its shops, rather than its nightlife. It is nearby river with good views of the city. It is a modern tower, a beautiful building that opened in 2002. It has a pool, fitness room, free wifi and it is not that expensive. Prices start at 75 pounds per night for a double room with breakfast. The restaurant and bar are open to everyone and are pleasant places to eat in the neighborhood, which as I said before does not have much nightlife. It is a place more for business, or to be near the train station which is right next door if you have to travel throughout the country.
This hotel is ideal for conferences, events and concerts. This hotel can be found directly connected to the Palace of Congress of the city, which hosts the aforementioned events. It has an excellent restaurant and cafe, it's very modern and the location is one of the most relaxing in the city. It's in the Quays, near Bell's Bridge. Another novelty, is that it's next to the river Clyde in the city, so if we go by boat, the customers prepare themselves to be attacked by merchants, by a new way to reach the city of Glasgow ... For lovers of the sea, it's for you!
This budget hotel is ideal to stay a few nights in the city as the rooms are simple but good with a bathroom and shower (although as seen in the photos the sink is not in its own room). Another curiosity is that rooms have 3 beds, making it ideal for 2-3 people. Although it's a very cheap hotel the bed is very comfortable. It's in a commercial centre so there's parking (the hotel also has its own private parking), restaurants and even a cinema right next door. As for the distance to the center, you can easily walk it in 15 minutes across the river by one of the many bridges, both for cars and pedestrians. A breakfast buffet is optional (+4.5 pounds) and is pretty good. The price of a room for 2 people is from 40 pounds, which makes it one of the cheapest hotels in Glasgow and a great option to stay for little money.
This is a newly refurbished, trendy lounge-style hotel, offering rooms for 55 pounds a night including breakfast, and weekend deals like "Stay Friday and Saturday, get Sunday free". It is located close to the central train station.

They offer transport to and from the airport. The Hotel has 32 newly refurbished bedrooms, meeting room, Gallery Restaurant, High speed internet, room service.
An ideal hotel if you want to stay near the airport, but uncomfortable if you visit Glasgow. We had to take the bus and the communication was not very good. The hotel is alright, the breakfast adequate and the rooms comfortable and clean. Close-by there is a town that is worth looking at, but little more.
