The bairro alto in lisbon

The Bairro Alto in Lisbon, without being as old as the Alfama, is the most pure and picturesque place in the city. It's between downtown Lisbon and the front of the Alfama. It's a neighborhood with a lot of activity, (especially after dark) that you should see on foot, see its shops and breathe its essence. You should definitely see the famous Convento do Carmo neighborhood even though this is not a technological place. It's a residential and commercial area where you find the coolest fashion stores as well as the more "in" bars and restaurants in Lisbon. What's hot right now is there. To find something similar to Barrio Alto in Madrid, the equivalent would be La Latina with regard to the nightlife and Chueca in respect to the trendy restaurants and stores that are there.

Strolling through lisbon

This year I wanted to do something special to celebrate New Year's Eve. I especially encourage fieston cotillions and large ... I guess I've been to a lot and I'm tired of dining with hundreds of people queuing to order a drink. So my partner and I decided to travel and spend the first night last year or in a different place, outside Spain. We in Marrakech, Berlin, Rome ... but neither had been to Lisbon, so we booked our tickets with Easyjet and there we planted. The city is really lovely, with its avenues, decaying buildings and a relaxed, cosmopolitan atmosphere. It is true that was full of Spanish and Italians who had the same idea as us, but nevertheless, it was not crippling the bustle of tourists. The entertainment area with bars and restaurants, is the Barrio Alto. Its slopes and narrow streets are full of places where to eat or have a few beers. Everyone understand Spanish, so there is no problem about asking whatever. A little bit of effort you and them and communication is excellent. For the last night of 2011 booked at a small restaurant that we had recommended a Portuguese guy, The Impero two senses (or something similar) in the Barrio Alto. Dinner was amazing, super fun and ate grapes (raisins here) at midnight and then kick our neighborhood from tiny kittens with great atmosphere and live music. As the locals are so small (some still smoking) everyone is on the street with beers in hand to talk and enjoy the night. The atmosphere is great, people of all ages, without quarrels or fights, just having fun in the company. The experience has been amazing and I encourage you to make a getaway to the Portuguese capital and enjoy the charm of its streets and people. Indeed, as a story, we find a typical Portuguese bar early in the Barrio Alto where the canes were € 0.75 (needless to say it was our obligatory stop-see photo of the entrance).

The center of lisbon is charming for ...

The center of Lisbon is charming for its parsimony and its beautiful melancholy that permeates deep and profound. A city shaped living poetry and nostalgic soul. From its beautiful neighborhoods Barrio Alto is the most interesting with Chiado. This neighborhood of narrow streets and houses with facades of old is now the center of the youth and nocturnal heart of the Portuguese capital, small bars design, good food, live music, fado bars, shops of young designers , cutting edge design and street art are some of the inputs that give personality style and character to the Lisbon today, feature perfect game entering the Lisbon literary past. Just with the arrival of the nineties, Bairro Alto went from being just one of the oldest neighborhoods of the city to one of the enclaves of modern thought Lisbon, creativity feels and breathes through Rua du North and parallel streets . At night, a person familiar frenzy, with people taking something on the street or in any of the bars that host the Lisbon youth and wildlife worldwide. The most amazing thing is to see how the neighborhood changes from, grandmothers mornings making buying a young restless nights running. An exceptional and special neighborhood.

Bairro alto and chiado are the highes...

Bairro Alto and Chiado are the highest parts of the city of Lisbon. Bairro Alto was a popular, workers and rather poor, which is now out of poverty, but remains a neighborhood of artists and writers. Chiado is a more elegant place, with theaters, bookstores, cafes and old shops full of international luxury. This is one of the most popular areas of the city. The main streets are high areas Rua do Norte, Rua Atalaia and Rua do Diário de Noticias. A Chiado, there is a restaurant which opened in 1784, Tavares Rico, which still serves customers in beautiful old porcelain dishes. Most of the neighborhood was destroyed in the great fire of 1988, but has started to build and restore and the neighborhood is nice. As it was an important intellectual center, there is the way some statues of famous people, such as Fernando Pessoa, Luis de Camoes, de Queiroz ... There is also designer shops of Portuguese designers, next to old churches and squares quiet.

Uptown lisbon

The Lisbon Bairro Alto is one of the busiest tourist areas. You can upload as much walking tram, but really worth it to walk to not miss any details. One thing that struck us was a car with Portuguese music that was on the main street. It was a novelty but it looked pretty old.

The heart of lisbon

This is the area of youth, nightlife, tapas bars and party. Here, the streets come alive at night. Nothing fancy regarding historical tourism, but to immerse yourself in the culture of Lisbon's twenty-first century, this is where it happens. To 22h, the bars fill up gradually, the streets also because we drink a glass outside chatting and going to another bar. Some streets, some side roads, and this is the Bairro Alto as it should find out: the night with the people of Lisbon.

The Bairro Alto is one of the neighborhoods of Lisbon, not as charming as Alfama but very picturesque. It has one of the highest concentrations of bars in the city of Lisbon. The alleys of Bairro Alto are still some of the most prestigious fado houses in the city. Going back to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the Bairro Alto was famous for having the headquarters and printing houses major national newspapers. Alluding to this fact are the Century Street and Street of the Daily News.

Brazilian in portugal

For the second time in Lisbon in Portugal and I increased my ability to feel at home. Not only by reason of the language, but all our proximity to Portugal makes us feel, in fact, very well acclimatised. The Bairro Alto looks looks like Lapa in Rio de Janeiro, the streets near the center of Sheets in Bahia Street or Leisure in Pirenópolis.
