Parque Ernst Thälmann

Fundado en el año de 1986, el Parque Ernst-Thälmann se encuentra en el centro del distrito de Prenzlauer, al norte de la ciudad de Berlín. Anteriormente, el espacio del parque estaba ocupado por una planta de carbón. El nombre del parque es un homenaje al líder comunista Erns Thälmann, quien nació exactamente 100 años antes de la construcción del parque y fue arrestado por la Gestapo en 1933. En el año de 1944, Thälmann fue asesinado bajo órdenes de Adolf Hitler. Además de la importancia simbólica del parque, el lugar es excelente para escapar un poco del centro de Berlín y sumergirse en la naturaleza sin salir de los límites urbanos. Dentro del parque hay varias galerías de arte, un par de cafés y amplias áreas abiertas donde, durante los meses de verano, tanto turistas como locales hacen sus picnics. Para llegar al parque, lo más sencillo es tomar el tranvía hasta la estación “Greifswalder Staẞe/ Danzinger Straẞe”.

Founded in the year of 1986, the Ernst-Thälmann Park is located in the center of the district of Prenzlauer, north of the city of Berlin. Previously, the space of the park was occupied by a coal plant. The name of the park is a tribute to the communist leader Erns Thälmann, who was born exactly 100 years before the construction of the park and was arrested by the Gestapo in 1933. In the year 1944, Thälmann was killed under orders from Adolf Hitler. In addition to the symbolic importance of the park, the place is excellent to escape a bit from the center of Berlin and immerse yourself in nature without leaving the urban limits. Inside the park there are several art galleries, a couple of cafes and wide open areas where, during the summer months, both tourists and locals make their picnics. To get to the park, the easiest way is to take the tram to the station "Greifswalder Staẞe / Danzinger Straẞe".
