1 review of Apoio Square

The first square in the medieval city

In medieval times Largo do Apoio was the first square and the center of Barcelos. It held weekly markets and most influential people lived there. There are still some homes from that era - stately, such as Casa de Carmona, the House of Lieutenant Barcelos and Constable House. It's a small square just behind the Main Church and Town Hall Square but its appearance is somewhat neglected, especially the building facades. In the center there's a Renaissance stone fountain.
