Largo Dr. Jose Novais

1 review of Largo Dr. Jose Novais

Attached to la Plaza Porta Nova

This small square called José Novais (doctor and Chief of the House or City Hall of Barcelos) had a bronze bust erected in his honor in 1931. The Square (or Largo Dr. Jose Novais) is virtually connected to Plaza Porta Nova, both are very central places to visit in the city. It's the tourist office, the Municipal Library and the back of a fifteenth century tower belonging to the medieval wall, which currently houses a Handicrafts Center. Moreover, like other places in the city, this square has one of the emblematic Barcelos Roosters.
