Lovely Baroque garden
The Largo da Porta Nova is in the very center of Barcelos and acts as the hub of the main pedestrian and shopping streets of the city. In the north, taking the Avenue Of Liberty takes you through the Campo da Feira, and to the House of Beça. In the south, down Antonio Barroso, takes you to the oldest area where the cluster of historic buildings are such as the Mother Church, the Pillory, the Palace of the Counts of Barcelos, the City. It's a large area and a good place to have a drink on a terrace. It has a source (or chafariz) center, and is surrounded by buildings with facades made of Portuguese tiles and iron balconies.
