Bab Mahrouk Cemetery

This is one of the two cemeteries located around the Medina. They are on two hills, and of course, all graves lie facing Mecca. This is in the northern part of the Medina, near the central bus station, and it's more accessible than the other (in the west). There are no restrictions on entry, but try to be respectful. You can take pictures, but again, it's best to be discreet. I thought it was a beautiful place, far more atmospheric than the cemeteries in my home country of Spain, where the dead lie in rows of boxes. This seems far more peaceful.
