Les Deux Magots

Excellent

I was invited to dinner in Saint-Germain, one of the most enchanting neighborhoods in Paris. What I didn’t expect upon entering Les Deux Magots, an old shop that was transformed into a café in 1885, was that great artists and intellectuals like Elsa Triolet, André Gide, Jean Giraudoux, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Léger, Jacques Prévert, Ernest Hemingway, Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, and many others had also sat at the very tables where I was to enjoy my meal.

I felt like I was in the Woody Allen movie “Midnight in Paris;” I imagined myself in post-war Paris with jazz in the background and these illustrious figures passing through the doors.

It’s worth visiting to try the delicious food, soak in the glamorous atmosphere, and enjoy the neighborhood of Saint-Germain.

Historic cafe

The Café des Deux Magots is a literary café in the neighborhood of Saint Germain des Prés, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.

This is where famous writers like Rimbaud, Mallarmé, and Verlaine got together. It still retains its classic Parisian look and serves up traditional French cuisine.

It’s still popular among locals ve come, above all, for a coffee on its picturesque terrace, but it’s becoming more frequented by tourists after having been featured in several guide books. It’s one of the most well-known stops in the neighborhood and it can sometimes be difficult to find a table.

It opens at 7:30 in the morning and stays open until 1am. The terrace offers unbeatable views of the Church of Saint Germain de Prés and there’s a little gift store nearby.

The only downside, as happens in all the famous places in Paris, is the price. But, if you take all the history into account, it’s more than worth it.

Located in the heart of lovely Parisian neighborhood of Saint Germain des Prés, Les Deux Magots is a coffee shop that is one of the most famous Parisian capital. Named in reference to two Chinese sculptures enthroned in the old shop "new" replaced by coffee in the late nineteenth century. Made famous by the many writers who were accustomed to navigate to write or discuss (Verlaine & Rimbaud in particular), the coffee is proving very nice and typically Parisian. Do not miss.

In the cafe 'of the Surrealists

Les deux Magot owes its notoriety 'the circle of intellectuals and artists who usually found himself at the beginning of the century: Picasso, Simone de Beauvoir, Sartre, Camus etc. Today it is worth spending at least a coffee 'and stop and observe the customers. The prices are quite high, but after all, we sit at the same table in which 'was conceived manifesto of Surrealism - or at least that' tradition.

The Café des Deux Magots is a literary cafe is located in the district of Saint Germain Pres, in the 6th arrondissement of Paris. This place has had the privilege of having seen Writers like Rimbaud, Mallarmé or Verlaine. It has kept its authenticity old Parisian brasserie offering the typical traditional cuisine. Customer is Parisian party, but knowing that many guides in Paris and praised the presentation, it becomes a must address the district. Personally it would be wrong not to find out. This place is open from 7:30 to 1:00 and highlight of the show is to enjoy the terrace overlooking the church of Saint Germain when the sun rears its rays. The Café des Deux Magots has a small shop of objects in the image, the story of an appropriate souvenir.
