Castro da Lanzada Archaeological Site

Near Playa de Areas Gordas, you can find the remains of a fort which dates back to the eighth century BC, with the ruins of a necropolis and some graves that remain. You'll also find the ruins of a fortress which was built by Bishop Sisnando II in the second half of the tenth century, to defend against pirate attacks. This fort was finally abandoned in the sixteenth century, and only the outer structure remains.
