Quite economical
The Willows was the hotel where I stayed on my second trip to Chicago. (On my first stay I had chosen a large, luxury hotel in the South Loop (Chicago Hilton) which was radically different in character and much higher in price). This hotel is located in Lakeview, an upscale neighborhood (wealthy class) close to Lincoln Park. It is a quiet residential neighborhood of low-rise buildings, with tree-lined streets. It has great charm and is full of restaurants and bars, but I have to admit I was wrong in my choice. Lakeview is a great place to live, but far from all the tourist attractions of the city, except those of Lincoln Park.
It is a small hotel located in an area with historic European flair. The decor is classic and it is very quiet. It is nothing like the big chain hotels in the city center. The room was comfortable, although I found it small, I do not know if I was comparing it to my suite at the Hilton. The common areas are what I liked, it felt like a little Parisian hotel. There are many public transportation options that are relatively near. But it was not what I was looking for in Chicago - vibrancy and liveliness. So on successive trips I stayed at big, downtown hotels. However, for a romantic, young couple, is a good choice. And quite economical.
