Today we went to Chez León and it was packed. We love this place. At first we were going to go to La Terraze but we didn't get the route. The truth is we weren't disappointed. The mussels were to die for and so were the gratins.
This restaurant-brewery is the most visited in Bruges, especially because of the wide variety of beers, not to mention its décor and location, which is on the edge of a canal. You can visit the brewery and then taste the beers at the bar. The blocks of cheese are highly recommended, and the meat with fries is delicious. Plus, they also offer some fish dishes.
Eating in Belgium can be a bit expensive. We happened to find this place where they had meals for 5 and 6 €, super cheap compared to the rest of the city! Although we went to just have a snack, we ended up having waffles in Brussels and Liege waffles. You can choose from many toppings: cream, chocolate, candy, ice cream ... They're all delicious!!! We couldn't get up afterwards, go figure! Hehe!
Fritland: As its name implies, it is a "friterie", a good place to eat chips. This place, very central, offers chips with gravy for less than 3 euros, as well as sausages, pies, and all the other things you find in places like this. Even if it's not the most traditional or family-style site, the place is centrally located and has the advantage of having enough chairs for eating in on the cold days of autumn and winter.
The Matinee restaurant is on the main canal of Bruges, just a few meters from the Grand Place. There you can enjoy typical cuisine with a wide selection of traditional Belgian gastronomy. All are very good and an average of 15/20 euros per person. I ordered shrimp croquettes and pork loin with red wine sauce, chives and bacon. All this with the famous Belgian fries. The best restaurant is also getting a window seat and enjoying the sights of this beautiful city ... Beautiful! It is located near the Marktplatz. It is mid-priced, but an entree feeds two perfectly. I recommend the half roast chicken with potatoes, it's fantastic, juicy, tender and delicious. It's better than at home, and I usually eat free range chickens. Price about 30 € with appetizer and 4 beers.
These days it's not easy to eat well cheaply and with good portions. This is what happens in this dining room located in a little street that goes off from the main square in Brussles. It's not easy to choose because all of the owners are around begging you to try theirs. If we are patient, we do not get carried away by misleading advertisements we can turn around, end up choosing a good place among many. In my case, this is one that I highly recommend.
The waffles here are very good. The peeing mannequin eating waffles was so funny that I had to put a picture up of it. It would've been nice to sit and eat a piece of these waffles in a more comfortable way, though. Prices for a waffle with the works is 5 euros and the basic sugar waffle is 2 euros. It is next to the [poi = 445 081] Leonidas [/ poi].
The food here is good, the dishes here normally offer generous portions, except for the fries that are ubiquitous throughout Belgium. Prices are around 20% higher than they are in Spain. For dessert, the highlight would have to be chocolate mousse, which is very good for five euros. The service is very fast and very attentive.
I was really surprised by the negative comment I previously read because I regularly frequent Bodega Lorena and have never had a bad experience. The owner appreciates if you try to speak Spanish and rewards you with better service. The food is delicious. The staff is constantly passing by the table to ask if you feel comfortable or want more potatoes or anything, but maybe that day was a bad day for you and them, especially if they had to deal with beggars. I just hope that after leaving there you went to a Belgian restaurant where they treat foreigners poorly, and even more so when they realize that they do not speak Flemish, or that they order the cheapest dish instead of the more expensive regional dishes. You probably wanted three or four of the cheap tapas, well, like the sign on the door says, you are in Belgium where you either eat a big meal in a restaurant or you stay home.
Wow! I discovered this place with two friends randomly, walking in the center of Brussels. The three of us usually drink beer, but do not have the same tastes: My friends (guys) prefer blonde or dark beers, while I like the sweeter beers. We had tried all kinds of beers in the bars in Brussels, but this "museum" was a great discovery: We were able to discover the amount of brew produced in Belgian! For my taste, it not only was the Pecheresse, peach flavored one, or Faro, with a touch caramelized, and Kriek, cherry, which can be found in most bars, but they also had banana-flavored beers , coconut, apple, plum, which surprices me etc! For guys they have Shelves and shelves covered with all types of bottles! The prices were reasonable (between 2 and 3 euros per bottle for the small ones), and there are also larger bottles of 75cl and one liter. A nice place for fans, and for anyone who wants to make a typical gift. I recommend coming here and discovering many different beers.
Hello Traveler! I recommend this taverna located between the Grand Place and the building of The Bourse (Stock Exchange). It's quiet and comfy where you can eat simply, cheaply, and tastefully. The service is very good and the general clientele is local. The bathrooms are curious and nicely decorated. Tip: The waffle is not the house specialty. It's more like a waffle-shaped churro.
The Musical Instrument Museum has a restaurant on the top floor with a nice terrace and a view that will take your breath away. The restaurant is quite big but when we went it was full of people, so it's best to make a prior reservation. It offers typical Belgian cuisine: I had the chance to try the famous Liège meatballs with tomato sauce and of course, fries on the side. Without doubt, the best thing about this restaurant (apart from the food, which is great) is the location, not only for the view, but for the building itself, a gem of Art Nouveau in Brussels, designed by P. Saintenoy in 1898.
A beautiful site, with a historic building with high ceilings and a vaulted glass dome. But there are still some very modern design elements. The bathroom is worth seeing! This restaurant is famous for oysters, lobsters, and shellfish, but you can find plenty more on the menu. I have tried the duck breast with raspberry sauce, and it was outstanding!
Ok, here's the first little place I found. Amadeo restaurant is famous for its ribs "a volonté", meaning that you pay 13 to 15 euros and you can eat all the ribs you want, or all the ribs you can. Besides ribs you can also order all-you-can-eat roasted potatoes that I recommend because they come with a sauce that's delicious. I recommend drinking the wine that they give you, and they charge you depending on how full or empty you leave the bottle. Drinks aren't included in menu prices anywhere in Belgium. Of course Belgian beer is some of the best in the world, so if you prefer beer to wine, this is your country. I also recommend the Amadeo because its decoration is very offbeat, eclectic almost to the point of being too much, mixing fluorescent lighting and Indian statues and African sculptures. But more interesting are the walls, which are strange bookshelves filled with books in different languages that you can pick up and read right there. Another good thing is that the restaurant is centrally located on a street in front of la bourse, which in turn is next to the Grand Place. Very important: They close at 11 pm!
Zebra Cafe in my opinion is the most authentic neighborhood cafe. The music is electronic and the waiters are very friendly. The bar is quite original: in the summer the outside terrace becomes a beach. In this bar things are very original (they were even giving classes in the evenings!). These small details make this place stand out.
Le Perroquet is an Art Deco-inspired restaurant in the Sablon area. Its menu is mainly pita bread stuffed with various fillings - pork, vegetables, fish, etc - accompanied by an assortment of sauces. For dessert they have good ice cream and scrumptious cakes. I recommend the lemon meringue pie and the cherry and pistachio ice creams. You won't regret it.
