One of the most popular places to eat seafood is the Captain Cook restaurant. Do not expect a very elegant place, (it is actually a "stall") or a very attentive service, but it doesn´t disappoint in regards to its seafood, fresh as if it had just been collected seconds before putting it on the table. The grill is very abundant and they have lobster (the specialty), crab, shrimp, squid, fish, all accompanied with chips, a spicy "mahi", desserts, drinks and a glass of mamahuana, compliments of the restaurant. It is best to reserve a table yourself, because if you do it from the Hotel or by some "intermediary" agency the price comes out to be more expensive. The price is about 30 Euros for the barbecue, and you can walk along the beach, and not too far from the resorts of Punta Cana. I particularly recommend it for dinner, as there are fewer people there and the sound of the waves crashing on the shore sets the tone of charm for the evening.
The Mare Nostrum restaurant specializes in Italian cuisine, and is adjacent to the hotel lobby [poi = 112098] in the Grand Palladium Palace [/ poi]. Only open at night, it is a theme restaurant for a la carte dinner. I didn't really feel like Italian that night, but it was really good. To start there is a serve-yourself salad and meat buffet. Then you choose the a first course, second course and a dessert from a menu. It's a huge amount of food and really filling. For example, I first asked for a lasagna and a seafood risotto, so I couldn't eat a dessert. It was all delicious! There were also many different pizzas, pasta with different sauces, scallops with cheese, etc.
This restaurant is situated in the beach area of the hotel Grand Palladium Bavaro. It is open for breakfast and lunch and offers a casual atmosphere with buffet lunch, and for dinner a themed restaurant where you can choose your food a la carte. As for the buffet, the quality and variety is similar to other restaurants in the complex: There is a lot to choose from, and there is everything you can think of! It has the advantage that if you are on the beach and close to it, you can go and eat until 15h, without the need for formal dress on the outdoor terrace. They also have snacks and barbecue (burgers, hot dogs ...). Dinners are a la carte, and the specialty is fish and seafood. I did not eat dinner here, because we were told by other people that the dinner wasn´t very good.
We had dinner there one night in August. It was spectacular. The place had the sea next door, and sofas on the sand, lights that were also built in the sand ... A divine place at night .. And I imagine totally it is totally different during the day with the same beach and same sand.
Although others recommended having dinner at this restaurant, our experience was really terrible. Like other Palladium resort themed restaurants, it was open for dinner only from 18.30 to 22h and non-smoking. It is situated next to the lobby Grand Palladium Palace. It's an a la carte Brazilian restaurant, but they have a very strange way of serving their customers. On the table you have a card with two colors, one side is green (this means you want to keep eating) and the reverse side is red (meaning that you're done and want to order dessert). First you serve what you want from the salad bar, and then the "show" begins: While you have the little card on the green side, the waiters walk around with huge pieces of metal with pieces of meat hanging from them (turkey, chicken, lamb, pork, sausage ...). The drawbacks we found were:-The meat was overly cooked, and it was as hard as a rock. -You have to wait for the waiter to come with the sword to serve you a small piece of meat, so you have to digest between eating each small piece of meat. It was terrible and I don´t recommend it.
This restaurant is situated next to the lobby Grand Palladium Palace, and the food is buffet style for both breakfast as well as lunch and dinner. It was where we always ate breakfast, because it was the closest to our room. It was pretty good, as there was plenty to choose from. There were also some cooking stands where they could make you fresh crepes, waffles, omelets and scrambled eggs and fruit juices (there was a person constantly blending, but I found them too sweet because they put a lot of sugar). Still, the buffet at Restaurant Cathedral was much better than this, and it had a better presentation (here the buns and bread were all crushed). At lunch they offered paella, hamburgers and grilled meat, and always had some gigantic piece of roast cut. At night it was a buffet, but it was themed: Every night of the week was a type of international cuisine (Italian, Dominican, Mexican ...).
The Behique is one of the restaurants in the Palladium complex. You can find it situated next to the pool Palladium Punta Cana hotel. It is open for both breakfast (7 to 10 am) and lunch (12 to 15h) and dinner (19 to 22h). The dining room is big, and it also has an outdoor terrace customers can enjoy. At breakfast and lunch customers can wear casual clothing (shorts, tshirt, sandals, etc ...), but for dinner you have to dress a little more upscale and formal. As for the food, there is everything you can imagine: Salads, pasta, pizza, paella, gazpacho, several types of meat and fish, etc., and even some cooking zones for: Crepes, scrambled eggs and omelettes for breakfast, or burgers and steaks for lunch and dinner. Usually they have some piece of roast beef cut for you (roast beef, BBQ ribs ...). The quality is very similar in all resort buffet restaurants. For dinner, every day of the week they have a themed menu: Italian Food, American, Dominican ... (Smoking is only allowed in the outdoor area of the terrace, though).
This is one of the hot spots in Punta Cana and, in my opinion, the best restaurant in town. They have another branch in Santiago de los Caballeros. You can choose between covered terrace or the interior dining room and the menu has a bit of everything: meat, seafood local dishes, all very elaborate and presented beautifully. It's open on the weekends from 12:00 to 01:00 is usually quite busy so I'd recommend booking ahead of time.
The Uva restaurant is only metres from [poi = 109904] the Cortecito beach [/ poi], next to the pool at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana. It is one of the many buffet restaurants in the Palladium complex, where you can have breakfast or lunch if you are staying at any of the four hotels in the resort. It is closed at nighttime. They serve everything buffet style: salads, pasta, pizzas, stews, meat, fish, etc. There is also a cooking zone, where they cook meat and burgers. The food is alright, although the quality is the same as the other restaurants in the complex. The best thing about it is its proximity to the beach and the pool, you can smoke on the outdoor terrace. Plus, you don't need to dress formally. It also serves snacks in the afternoon, from 15 to 17.
A five-star buffet! You can choose so much ... at breakfast, eggs and pancakes, and at lunch or dinner, grilled meat and fish, freshly prepared. They also do a thematic buffet three times a week, with, for example, Mexican food. Amazing decorations and delicious food!
Simple, but what they had was all good!! La Altagracia restaurant is the buffet restaurant, next to the pool and beach, at the Riu Palace Punta Cana hotel. They serve buffets from breakfast until late. After lunch, it's lovely going for a swim in the pool, or relaxing on the beach in the shade of the palm trees. The meals they served daily were: pizzas, burgers, nachos with cheese, hot dogs, and sandwiches, that is pure junk food, but also rice, pasta and meat or fish cooked on the spot. My favourite was the grilled shrimp. They also had a buffet of drinks and desserts.
Gabi Club is a new concept within the SolMelia chain. Bars, restaurants, and music, with spectacular, trendy decorations making for a unique experience ... whether on the beach or in the restaurants and bars which are so numerous in the paradise of the Dominican Republic.
Bamboo is one of the thematic restaurants in the Palladium Complex. It is adjacent to the hotel lobby of the 5-star Grand Palladium Bavaro, but you don't need to stay there - the restaurants can be used by any people staying at the resort. This restaurant is open for dinner only, from 18.30 to 22h (best to make an appointment if you're going at 20h, as it's usually crowded). It specialises in Chinese and Asian cuisine, and is an a la carte restaurant. The design looks like a pagoda, with tables and wicker chairs, and even a couple of tables where you sit on the floor, in the Japanese style. We dined very well. There's a salad buffet in the centre of the dining area, and you can choose a starter, main course and dessert from the menu. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Non-smoking.
It's a restaurant specializing in Mexican cuisine. This is another one of the themed restaurants that opens only at dinner time (from 18:30 to 22h) and is a part of the Palladium complex. It is situated next to the pond of the Grand Palladium Bavaro. The décor is also of a Mexican style, with Mexican hats, canteen style swinging doors and colorful tapestry adorning the walls. It's a la carte restaurant, where you can taste traditional Mexican food such as quesadillas, tacos, burritos, guacamole, nachos ... Apart from the menu, there is also a small buffet with salads and appetizers. (They don´t allow smoking).
The Palladium complex's best breakfast can be eaten in the Cathedral Restaurant, located next to the pool at the Grand Palladium Bavaro. This huge buffet restaurant is only open for breakfast, from 7 to 10 am, and for dinner, from 19-22h. There were a variety of high-quality food, I even had champagne! The juices were natural and freshly squeezed and the staff cooked the waffles, crepes, omelettes or scrambled eggs with mixed ingredients right in front of you as you ordered. Plus there was a huge variety of dessert (cakes and pastries), as well as meats. Well worth it!. Even if you are staying at another resort, take the tourist train up here for breakfast because it is much better than the other buffets, by far.
The Royal Gourmet Restaurant is the most elite and exclusive of the Palladium complex, which you can only eat at it if you're staying in the VIP Royal Suites. The breakfast and lunch are buffet style, and dinners are a la carte, offering quite elaborate dishes with a creative twist. But as we were staying in the Grand Palladium Palace, we couldn't try any of the food.
The Sumptuori was one of the restaurants that I liked in the Palladium complex, especially for the live cooking show (it is very popular). It is adjacent to the hotel lobby of the Grand Palladium Palace and, being a Japanese-themed restaurant, it is only open for dinner (18:30 to 22:00). You have two options for dinner: a la carte or on cooking tables. The second option is the funniest, and the most in demand, you have to go as late at 20:00 to dine between 21:00 and 22:00. You sit around a table that you shared with others, on which there is a sheet where a chef makes the food live, he also gives quite a show with knives and spatulas. The tasting menu is unique in that you can choose the dishes, but very are varied and usually everybody likes the classic fried rice, chicken, beef sauteed with vegetables and prawns flambéed with soy sauce. Before that you choose a starter - soup (very spicy) or unconditional sushi. Dessert was a kind of delicious chocolate mousse, which came in an edible chocolate cup. It was fun, something different and the food tasted great, so I recommend it (especially the dinner-show).
My second favourite restaurant in the Caribbean! As the name suggests, Luigi's serves mostly Italian cuisine, and has a starter buffet, followed by a menu of main courses and desserts. You have to make reservations 24 hours in advance. There was so much to choose from on the buffet ... grilled zucchini, different types of pasta (spaghetti, lasagne, etc), pizza, calamari, tomato bread, and all kinds of salads ... as for main courses, we could choose from: 1) Fettuccine with cream and fresh seafood, 2) sea bass fillet on a bed of spinach with pistachio crust, saffron sauce and red pepper foam, 3) Shrimp over squid ink risotto, 4) beef tenderloin grilled on a bed of mushrooms with wine foam and finally 5) Chicken breast stuffed with peppers and sage with provolone cheese sauce. The two desserts were: 1) tiramisu cake with fruit and cream and 2) citrus mousse with berries and fruit coulis. For me personally what I liked best was the pepperoni pizza and beef sirloin ... Delicious!
