In the Piazza dei Signori in Vicenza, this is the perfect place to have a quick lunch while enjoying a beautiful view of the Basilica. Divided over two floors, it's quite a busy spot, but the tables are served quickly. In good weather, I recommend sitting on the small terrace on the first floor ... alone with your dreams.
In a city more famous for its seafood, where you eat an authentic Neapolitan pizza? Punte E Virgola is the answer! The freshness of the buffalo mozzarella is truly delicious - it reminded me of the Castel dell'Ovo in Naples, where I ate the best pizza of my life!
The Antica Casa della Malvasia offers classic Vicenza cuisine, prepared with simple ingredients, with refined prsentation. The wine list is extensive, with excellent offerings, particularly from local wineries. The atmosphere is very nice, the restaurant is a few steps from the Palladian Basilica, in a quiet part where small tables are placed in the "garden" for the summer. The interior is divided into several rooms, some suitable for many guests, but it's notable for its quiet corners designed for two people.
A great place to go for a colorful, fun, night when it's cold outside. This is a cozy Mexican restaurant with a large menu that's sure to surprise you with its unusual combinations (fish fajitas!), and delicious cocktails. The background music is pleasant, and there are screened corners where you can dine in privacy, accompanied by candlelight. The sculpture of a life-size man lying in a hammock hanging from the ceiling was very funny. The menu is huge, and you can also order dinner to go.
This fabulous pastry shop overlooks the Piazza dei Signori, and is a real temptation for the senses: when you look in the window at the bright colours of the cakes and pies, how could you not be lured in? Upon entering, we were overwhelmed by the aromas ... cakes, coffee, cream ... wow! It's almost impossible to choose from the selections on offer, but everything we tried was delicious.
Villa delle Rose is a pizzeria, restaurant, lounge bar just outside the centre of Vicenza. It is a renovated farmhouse that has been decorated in style. The pizzeria offers a wide range of dishes, the most famous being the pizza sold by the metre. You can choose your size (25 - 50 cm or more. 25cm is a normal pizza), and the pizza is served in a special dish. I recommend it for a night of fun with friends. In summer you can also dine outside on the elegant terrace.
That Illy coffee is one of the most popular in Italy is a fact. So when you're in the shadow of the Palladian Basilica, where better to go for a good coffee? Illy is located in the city centre and offers the full range of the legendary Trieste coffee: espresso, chocolate, cold coffee with cream ... delicious! Here also they sell coffee machines to take home, coffee cups, and all you could ask for!
It's surprising to enter this restaurant and see that the staff are mostly Chinese, both in the kitchen, and at the front of house. Despite what you may think, the staff are friendly, and the food is absolutely delicious. The menu includes traditional dishes such as bigoli, pasta and beans, ravioli with gorgonzola, polenta, rabbit, cod Vicenza and desserts, all homemade. It also provides a set menu for lunch at 12 €, excluding drinks, with two courses and a vegetable buffet.
When it comes to typical Vicenza cuisine, we can't miss out on Il Cursore. It is a restaurant par excellence, famous and award-winning. It is located in a quiet area near the city centre, offering everything you want if you're looking for a good traditional Venetian dish: polenta and mushrooms, cod, pasticcio, bigoli, stewed squid ... there are a thousand things to choose from! The restaurant is family owned, and has that old home look, making you feel at home. You can dine well for less than 20 euros. Bon Appetite!
Here in this historic inn you can enjoy typical Venetian food. Fried fish, meatballs, the delicious fried aubergine with ham, chicken wings, octopus, vegetables, potatoes, sliced radishes, dumplings, local wine ... the restaurant is small, so places are limited. While you're waiting you can have a look at historic photos of Vicenza football, as well as a price list of an ancient brothel! The prices are very fair: a dinner for two with a couple of dishes mixed with various cicchetti each, very generous, and two glasses of wine, € 18 in total. Not bad! Closed on Sunday. Open the rest of the week from 8 to 22. Enjoy your meal!
Winter has arrived ... what could be more comforting than a cup of coffee and a zabaglione? In the Cafe Pigafetta, you'll find delicious chocolates and lovely local coffees ... in fact, they blend their own secret variety here, the best in the city! High-quality tea, too, from China, India and Ceylon, with aromas of spices, flowers, fruits and exotic herbs. There's an area for snacks, too, and a place where you can buy gifts, like teapots and boxes of chocolates.
This is a perfect spot for a lunch break on the fly, or a coffee with friends. The atmosphere is very welcoming, made more green by the leaves of the climbing plants that adorn the ceiling. The staff are priceless, always ready to put customers at ease and greet you with a smile. Abundance Brunch allows you to enjoy a delicious lunch spending very little and eating well: try the vegetarian focaccia at € 2.20!
If you want to quench your thirst on a summer's evening, enjoying a beer of excellent quality, this is the place. The brewery specialises in Belgian beers, offering dozens of different types of draft beer: red, blonde, and dark. It has a very nice summer garden, and a good menu of sandwiches, bruschetta, pizza and fries. It's comfortable and welcoming, with wood and glass like in old beer factories. An excellent place to go for dinner with friends. The service is diligent, and discreet. You can enjoy a wonderful, relaxing evening here, drinking top quality beer.
This is one of the most interesting Gothic buildings in Vicenza, the headquarters of Cioccolato chocolate. Chocolate with nuts, with chili, with rum, with paprika ... there's so much on offer here! The gift packages are wonderful, original, and ideal for any occasion! Lovers of toast and sandwiches will also find something here, and you can enjoy salted almonds and chocolate covered coffee beans ... delicious!
This is a beautiful traditional tavern in the centre of Vicenza, with a dark counter and stone walls - sincere, rustic surroundings. The kitchen offers something more, though: great dishes celebrating the local tradition, from cod, to bigoli in duck sauce. The price is right, and there's also a fixed price menu which I haven't tried. They have a selection of local wines that can be ordered by the glass. Definitely worth a visit!
The place is beautiful, in the centre of Vicenza, 200 metres from the Basilica Palladiana. Very cozy, historic and renovated. Here you can enjoy fresh fish, raw and hot seafood ... absolutely delicious, and all accompanied by good wine. The pizza is made with soy bean paste, so it's lighter, and easier to digest.
In the historic center of Vicenza, at the foot of the stairs of Monte Berico, is the Osteria il Buganiere. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and delicious dishes with local products. The variety allows for a wide choice of wines for different palates, with delicious snacks, and platters of cold meats and cheeses to accompany, as well as the excellent local dishes such as the classic bigoli all'anitra until codfish' Vicenza. Must try and try again!
