16 places to eat in Benasque

Restaurants in Benasque
Ciria Restaurant
(11)
In October in Benasque, being low season, there aren’t many places you can choose to have lunch or dinner. Having said this, it may seem that you couldn’t eat like you would like because when we entered to have dinner, the place was empty. But the El Fogaril Restaurant, in the Ciria Hotel is an exception. With nothing to hide: the place very normal (verging on classic), normal service and a set menu for €23 (tax not included) is perfect to please you. For the first course you can choose from rice “a la marinera”, soup, a salad with tartar of salmon (that was my choice and truthfully it was a triumph) and another dish that I can’t remember. For the second course: local lamb (quite good), “civet” of venison, hake… my recommendation for dessert is the sorbet. If they can maintain the quality in high season, then it’s a restaurant which is worth it.

Bodega-Restaurant Sayo

Another Benasque restaurant that I recommend to you all is Sayo (which before its rehabilitation to become a restaurant housed the first town inn), in the historic centre of town, opposite the Ribagorza house of Counts and next to the old jail. The 2 meals (12 € and another at 25 €) are homemade, the meats on the grill and the dishes tasty and plentiful (I've only tried the cheap one), you can also eat from the menu, the service is very good although one must not go in a rush. They have a couple of tables outside where one can eat their appetizer in good weather and, inside, a cosy fireplace where you can have them in the winter.

La Llardana Restaurant

The La Llardana Restaurant has delicious food in a place with excellent decor and spectacular views from the enormous windows. If the weather is nice you can eat on the terrace surrounding the restaurant. The restaurant's specialty is grilled valley meat, roasts, and also seafood and seasonal vegetables.

Sabores de Pueblo

This shop sells many wonderful local products. You can find everything from traditional local sausages to homemade jams and sweets of all kinds. The store is nicely decorated and the staff always serve you with kindness and care. They also have a good variety of Somontano wines that are now becoming more well-known.

Flor de Nieve Pastry

This place is a classic in Benasque. I went there as a child when attending the ski school and I was given a nice piece of homemade cake and a Swiss chocolate. The bakery has been recently extended and, besides cakes, you can buy deli products produced in the area, such as wine and chocolates. Worth a visit.

La Fuenroya Restaurant

It is within the Hospital Hospice, and it is open daily from 13:30 to 16:00 and 20:30 to 22:30. There are daily menu with a variety of dishes: mushrooms, berries, game meats, and veal and beef. It costs 23 euros without drinks and it's all delicious with an extensive menu. In low season there is no problem, but it is better to book as it is one of the most famous restaurants in the area.

In the main street of Los Tilos you can find Viandas Overseer which offers its fine wines, tasty ham cut in front of you by Jesus who is the owner and very charming, indeed. The tapas are very rich and original and also you can buy deli products. All who work there will serve you with a smile and that makes you even more comfortable. Super recommended.

Cafeteria la Cumbre

Especially noteworthy is this place that is called the Coffee and the Octopus, with good wine and it has a terrace. In the summer and in the winter you can enjoy a good hot chocolate to end a day spent skiing. I like its quality price offered in the cafeteria and they also have a wide selection of tapas, sandwiches and dishes if you love combinados and you can also enjoy watching football on both screens.

La Buhardilla

On the Calle Mayor of the village of Benasque, in the busy commercial centre of the village. I’ve only been to this restaurant once and now knowing many restaurants in the valley, I have something clear: it has a varied menu and not only meat. In our case we knew for sure that we were going for fondue, so we ordered some patatas bravas and a fondue for 2 with soft drinks, since it was an improvised dinner rather than something else. If you spend several days in this valley and you are fed up of so much meat and traditional food with a lot of calories or you simply fancy something more informal, you have places you can choose between tapas, salads, raclettes, fondues, pasta… this is the place. Winter weekends tend to be very busy and it is necessary to make a reservation if you want to have dinner, in spite of the fact that the premises are very big.

La Besurta
(4)
Located in the Posets-Maladeta at 3,000 meters from the Pyrenees. The Besurta is situated at the bottom of the valley, and is accessed by a paved trail in summer which is closed to traffic but has a bus service to get you there. A stone hut and a few tables outside allow us to enjoy magnificent views as we have a drink and we replenish forces after the walk around. Http :/ / travelphotobox.Blogspot.Com/2008/08/ibn-de-coll-de-toro.Html I recommend this place greatly.
