I passed through Jaca and stopped to have some tapas in this restaurant.
I was pleased with the food. They give you tapas with a modern presentation without losing quality. Imaginative dishes for a good price.
You can have small sandwiches, portions, fried food, cured meat, cheeses, and things on toasted bread. The atmosphere is nice, and in summer they put tables outside in the street.
You can buy wine by the glass of which they have a wide range. I recommend it, you won’t be disappointed. It is in Ramiro I Street, number 3.A central and busy street.
We ate in the Callizo de Ainsa Restaurant (Huesca), on a terrace with views of Peña Montañesa.Very good cuisine at a reasonable price. You have to reserve in advance.
To start with there are some very surprising tapas (haut cuisine with attitude). Trout tataki with seaweed (fusion but not over the top). Memorable zucchini flower with a cod brandade, and surprisingly, to finish a rare entrecote like I had never eating before.
Dessert: “torrijas” with ice cream and fizzy sweets (risky, but very interesting).
I didn’t know that it was well known in this area and I came across it by accident, the truth is that my attention was drawn to the attractive menu attached to the door and this was the most tempting thing.
The place is cosy and well cared for, the service friendly and good mannered by a guy from Castellón who was happy to know people from the neighbouring region.
As for the food, a rice stew with big prawns, a varied salad and meat of a fantastic quality.
Regarding the desserts, delicious. Their fame is well deserved,a place to return to.
In October in Benasque, being low season, there aren’t many places you can choose to have lunch or dinner. Having said this, it may seem that you couldn’t eat like you would like because when we entered to have dinner, the place was empty. But the El Fogaril Restaurant, in the Ciria Hotel is an exception.
With nothing to hide: the place very normal (verging on classic), normal service and a set menu for €23 (tax not included) is perfect to please you.
For the first course you can choose from rice “a la marinera”, soup, a salad with tartar of salmon (that was my choice and truthfully it was a triumph) and another dish that I can’t remember. For the second course: local lamb (quite good), “civet” of venison, hake… my recommendation for dessert is the sorbet.
If they can maintain the quality in high season, then it’s a restaurant which is worth it.
If you love chocolate, this factory will be your downfall. Here you can find every kind of hand-made chocolates and sweets, made from traditional recipes dating back 3 generations: powder chocolate for making drinks, pearls of chocolate to go with coffee, candied almonds with a coating of plain or white chocolate, pieces of orange covered in plain chocolate, etc.
You can even find chocolate for massages and fondues, or a peculiar salad dressing based on olive oil flavoured with chocolate, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla.
Of course, there is no lack of a wide assortment of sweets, truffles, flavoured bars, nougats and Easter eggs (in season). Rightly, they actually provide chocolate to the Queen of England.
In the casino in Huesca is located this magnificent restaurant which offers, at reasonable prices, an unforgettable experience. To start with, various snacks, different types of bread (the tomato bread is delicious). Tuna marinated with pink tomatoes from Huesca and a berry ice cream.
A rice dish with snails and a pepper sauce and ice cream of ali-oli, an original interpretation of flavours from traditional cuisine. After, fish or meat: crunchy suckling pig. And for dessert a peach soup with ice cream. All for €32. Somontano white wine included.
It was the second time I had visited this restaurant, with a long interval in between, more than 15 years, I calculate.
The place is cosy, with an eclectic architecture mixed with the traditional of the valley. The service was a 10 out of 10 and the food excellent, based on traditional Aragonese cuisine fused with contemporary.
The game meat was exquisite, the more than 200 wines in its cellar impressive, the first courses very good and a good mark also for the desserts, all of this at a more than reasonable price.
The space between tables sufficient. A place of reference for those who want to flee from tourist menus and ordinary food.
With a more modern touch. The menu is excellent and exquisite and is the perfect way of getting to know the most typical dishes of the area.
The best thing is to let the waiters advise you and try a little of everything. The meat was exquisite, but the pink tomato deserves a mention, a variety of the area which garnishes many of the dishes.
The atmosphere is fantastic and the place has a lot of charm.
We were looking for an appetizing place in Torla for a drink and we stumbled upon this small and inviting patio on Rebeco's terrace. The place is very nice, as the stone walls keeps the place cool in summer and despite having small terrace tables, they are separated, offering a moment of intimacy accompanied by a wine or a beer and a tapa tastes heavenly after a good walk around the area.
Another Benasque restaurant that I recommend to you all is Sayo (which before its rehabilitation to become a restaurant housed the first town inn), in the historic centre of town, opposite the Ribagorza house of Counts and next to the old jail.
The 2 meals (12 € and another at 25 €) are homemade, the meats on the grill and the dishes tasty and plentiful (I've only tried the cheap one), you can also eat from the menu, the service is very good although one must not go in a rush.
They have a couple of tables outside where one can eat their appetizer in good weather and, inside, a cosy fireplace where you can have them in the winter.
We discovered this place a few years ago and we never tire of going back. The restaurant is in a small Pyrenean village, in Buesa, the views are spectacular… whatever you order won’t leave you indifferent.
I recommend for a first course “huevos rotos”, we like them with pate and ham (this is the best mixture) the onion soup and wild mushrooms are unbeatable; regarding meat, the chops and the sirloin are the best I’ve ever had in my life, I swear it, and I am a carnivore by nature; although if you have a limited budget or prefer white meat, the chicken won’t leave you indifferent, it will leave you speechless…
Finally drink home-made sangria with your dishes, you’ll do it again! I recommend it 100% if you want to eat in a privileged place of the highest quality.
A few days ago I had the opportunity to eat in this good restaurant which like on previous occasions I found here in minube.com.
Once again, it was a good experience, even though the current road works near to Nueno between Huesca and Sabiñánigo drove my GPS mad and made my journey to the restaurant a small odyssey. I don’t know if it was a question of the season or the day in question (a Wednesday in August at lunch time) but the place was a little deserted. Of the 10-12 tables only 3 or 4 were occupied, but there was still a good atmosphere.
The vegetarian food came up to my expectations, except the "Maltesa" salad with different lettuces, pearls of melon, cucumber, baby sweet corn, carrot shavings, sunflower seeds and balsamic oregano of figs, whose pretentious name couldn’t hide a tasteless dish. But the rest of the dishes washed down by a fresh rosé form Navarra, were noteworthy.
The natural tomato soup with cream of camembert cheese and shavings of egg, with a much more modest name, made my palate quite happy. There is nothing like getting the taste to put a smile on the face of the client and avoid superfluities.
For the second course, I ordered and Italian frittata with pumpkin and mushrooms with a tapenade coulis, that I found delicious, a very well filled quiche with a pumpkin base which contrasted with the brilliant flavour of the mushrooms… Very good!
The La Llardana Restaurant has delicious food in a place with excellent decor and spectacular views from the enormous windows. If the weather is nice you can eat on the terrace surrounding the restaurant. The restaurant's specialty is grilled valley meat, roasts, and also seafood and seasonal vegetables.
Few things are more valued on a skiing holiday than dining out, and that they treat you well and they bring the food quickly.
The restaurant looks like a typical ski place, the decoration based on wood and a warm atmosphere, perfect for an après-ski dinner when you are feeling weak.
This place offers more than well-made hamburgers, actually there’s something that you shouldn’t miss, the mussels. Served with a tasty sauce, they are worth it, as are the artichokes. And for dessert the classic cheese cake, that you shouldn’t miss.
The price is right. Here is my recommendation, if you go to Formigal it’s an option you really have to bear in mind.
Ah! And don’t forget to make a reservation, in high season or low season it’s overflowing every night.
The restaurant of the Hospedería of the Cathedral of Roda de Isábena is situated inside the cathedral itself, in the old Cistercian refectory, where the monks ate. The decoration has been maintained since then without change, in an authentic style, and where there is even clavichord music and frescos and furniture of the XVIII century.
When it comes to the food, it consists principally of Aragonese dishes and meat, which come from the farm belonging to the owners, situated in Benasque. All this is perfectly cooked using quality ingredients, what’s more the portions are very filling.
We can enjoy different set meals, as well as a la carte dishes. The price goes from €19 to €31 if you choose a la carte. A highly recommended restaurant, not only for its excellent cooking but also for its unmatchable situation.
