I recently saw "Odette Toulemonde." I had heard that it was like Amelie, but I think they are not similar at all, except for the innocent and goofy goodness of the protagonists. Odette is Belgian and tells his friend that wants to go to the beach. He tells her he will take her to Spain.. Odette, happy in her world, says it wans´t necessary and Belgium was good enough. The beach is grey, sad and not inviting to swim at all. I went to see the North Sea and beach for a summer. Yes, to view the photos, some will say it was taken in the middle of November when it was dull and gray, but there is a Saturday in August. If you look carefully, the sea and sky merge in a color stone, as if either were unbreakable except the raindrops that are about to fall from one to the other. And of course, to us, it poured over us. A dripping kebab sandwich in a future North Sea water and the car, that day on the beach is gone. After finishing my thoughts seem fair to say that I have seen pictures and heard much more positive experiences than mine on Belgian beaches. It seemed unfair not to add that maybe it was my bad luck.
