Flea Markets in Acre
The Old Town Souk
It is difficult to choose a favourite part of Acre, but if I had to, I would choose the old city bazaar. Walking through the streets and alleys it is easy to lose track of time. A smell here, a taste there, a sound ... everything stands out: the colour of the sweets, its refreshing juices, smoking a shisha ... and yes, occasionally the stench of raw fish (which I strangely like), is due to being in a coastal city. One of the most beautiful coastal cities in Israel, it has to be said. The bazaar in the old city is where the taste stays with you for several days. It is the taste of nostalgia. One can spend hours in it, and yet to leave it feels like no time at all. You would like to come back another day. You would like to make friends with the shawarma seller who is so talkative and friendly. I'll be back.
Flea Markets in Jaffa
Jaffa Flea Market
It's not only the market that's held on the weekend, hundreds of stalls are crammed into the streets and you can literally find anything from clothes, souvenirs, food to collections of dolls and various junkyard objects ve have had dozens of owners. For market lovers it is essential and for the curious as well. And if it's not your thing, don't worry because it is in the old town of Jaffa, which is now a historical significance that makes it a must see.
