A beautiful resort on the Costa de la Luz. You can enjoy the nature, sports, discover the excellent cuisine, stroll along its extensive beaches, shop... Islantilla is the destination for everyone and has everything.
This market is located on one of the main streets in Islantilla, stretching from the beach to the roundabout on the Ctra to Lepe and Isla Cristina. It's a food market where you can buy meat, fish, vegetables, pickles, cooked seafood, spices, fruits and so on. The fishmongers are the best: they have very fresh produce, where you can buy typical Huelva prawns, clams and tuna steaks or swordfish which are delicious when grilled. The size of these fish is striking. Open only in the mornings, and in August it's full of people. Prices are a little high, but it's better to buy fresh produce here than in the supermarket (not that there is a variety of places in Islantilla to buy produce).
Highly Recommended! Fun, good atmosphere, AND you learn to sail! The courses are more than sufficient, and the director Fernando Lamadrid is obviously a professional. The school also offers rental services, sales, and repairs. Even if you have problems with your boat, you will be able to sail. There are organized little festivals, regattas and beach outings...what more could you ask for on a vacation?
Although there are few places open, there's a bar and a chicken shop. Has a family atmosphere. Top notch seafood and very good tapas. The chicken place also has pizzas and chicken, pork and beef burgers. I would opt for the latter, scrumptious. On Saturday night, in summer there's live music but you have to book a table because it fills up quickly.
Located on the Islantilla promenade next to Oasis Islantilla, El Medano Bar is a relatively new establishment that opened its doors in 2012. The location, newly built, has a modern decor with a great air current and a large terrace with spectacular views of the sea and Islantilla beach. It's open all day, so you can go for a cold beer at noon or a drink at nightfall. A very nice place.
Shoreline Park is a nature reserve lying along the Islantilla beach. It consists of coastal dunes, shrub vegetation such as white broom, and coastal grassland. This is a native animal species habitat and to prevent human encroachment, areas are fenced off. Access to the beach is by wooden walkways high above the protected areas.
The Islantilla Golf Course is considered one of the hundred best courses in Europe. It is located in a residential area about 1.5 km from the seafront, in a unique field surrounded by pine forests and situated on a kind of hill, so to follow the course you must past through neighboring private developments several times. Many inhabitants have little garden chalets adjoining the course alongside certain holes, which was a major complaint at the time of the sale of the property. The course was built in parts, occupies an area of 73 acres, and now has 27 holes plus a practice tee, a great chipping green with three bunkers and two putting greens. The club building is very nice, built in a colonial style, with a restaurant, shop, swimming pool and sauna. It also offers lessons and club, car, and buggy rentals. Opposite the club is the Hotel Islantilla Golf Resort, where there is tennis and squash.
This Shopping and Leisure Centre is really very luxurious, located by the sea and has a very well-known supermarket chain. More than 20,000 square metres, opened on June 19, 2009 with the supermarket in operation, street parking and there's a parking lot. There's a beautiful business called Atelier here. Delicious tapas, beer and sandwiches at "Gee" brewery, exquisite ensembles, bags and ponchos in "Lourdes", all kinds of accessories and sports equipment in "BK" Sports, and a great place to try the most exquisite fish and seafood in "La Lonja" which has a large terrace with sun in winter and summer. Many places were empty, others were setting up for the day. It will turn into THE place for locals and visitors to go and be entertained.
On the first floor of the Islantilla Mall, on the beachfront and boardwalk you'll find La Dehesa multiplex cinemas, which has 6 modern cinemas where they have the latest films. It is very convenient that this place has opened in Islantilla, because before you had to travel about 15 km if you wanted to see a movie, either in Lepe or in Isla Cristina. But the real importance of this film is that the International Festival of Unedited Film and TV in Islantilla is held here annually in the spring, and is one of the most important cultural events of the region.
Fernando Serra is the director of this sailing school, primarily for the Islantilla district fishermen. During the summers there is even more fun, and you can take advantage of the privileged beach to the fullest. In the morning there is a great atmosphere with children's courses in small Catsy catamarans and windsurfing. All material is top brand and well maintained, the monitors are friendly and will teach you everything they know.
This is a spectacular spot in a very nice area, just a few steps from the beach and car park area. It is also in a shopping center, where you can park 24 hours a day for free. Do not miss the party, where you can have glass after glass, and enjoy yourself in the disco or on the terrace. It starts Saturdays at 0:30.
