Lakes in Geneva
Lake Geneva
(35)
I spent a week in Switzerland with a heat that I could never have imagined in Central Europe. It is a country of great contrasts and extraordinary landscapes. Undoubtedly one of the best experiences of my life was watching a sunset over Lake Geneva with views of Mont Blanc in the background.

Lakes in Geneva
The Jet d'Eau
(41)
In Spanish we know it as the jet of Geneva. It's the of the highest water sources that in the world. It reaches 140 meters. It really is the most emblematic part of the city can be considered a historical monument, therefore. It's located at one end of Lake Lehman, in fact if the wind is strong the moisture caused from the jet can be noticed from the center of the city.
Castles in Montreux
Château de Chillon
(25)
Wonderful to be on the shores of Lake Leman. The castle dates back to 1536 and is perfectly preserved. On the weekends, an association usually meets there that recreates a typical day at the time. Worth it. The tour agency program KeyTours SA
Viewpoints in Zermatt
Matterhorn
(16)
We took a train from Geneva to Zermatt (which is about a 4 hour trip) just to see the Matterhorn. We didn't even go for the skiing, we went for the 10-month beverages. It's amazing how it protrudes nearly 4,500 meters above the other mountains, and that's what it looks like from anywhere in the town, whether you're walking, on the train, or, of course, from the ski resort (the largest and most beautiful in Europe), which you can get to by the Gornertgatbahn travem for about 50 CHF.
Waterfalls in Neuhausen
Rhine Falls
(28)
If you should be in the area you should not miss out on this place. We were there last summer and good (despite being anecdotal) was that the day after the Spanish team won the World Cup we went about with faces and arms covered with flags and everyone congratulated us. Well apart from that story, I'd say that it is an amazing place, with green vegetation and the river that has its own life, giving us extraordinary landscapes. Highly, highly recommended.
Cathedrals in Geneva
St. Pierre Cathedral
(31)
This Calvinist Protestant Cathedral offers a unique opportunity to enjoy stunning panoramic views of Geneva. For only €4, you can climb up to the viewpoints and take pictures and marvel at the the views of the city. The inside is not anything special in and of itself, all very sober and somber. Keep in mind that the majority of Switzerland are Calvinist. By the way, you can also leave a comment in the cathedral guest book.
Bridges in Lucerne
Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrucke)
(22)
Along with the lake, the bridge is certainly the best known image of the city and it's beauty and history are logical. It was built in the thirteenth century in wood and diagonally crosses the river that forms the popular Lake Lucerne. Inside it had beautiful paintings of great artistic value but, unfortunately, in the 90s it was engulfed by fire that destroyed part of it, though some paintings were saved. Today, the bridge we see is a reconstruction, but still, it's gorgeous. At sunset and on sunny days it has a spectacular color.
Of Touristic Interest in Interlaken
Interlaken
(14)
Interlachen, or "between the lakes" is where you'll really find tranquility and entertainment, even if you think I'm crazy for saying that, it's true. Whites and high peaks in the sky, protecting this city throughout stately and elegant aesthetics, to travel at night markets or enjoy any sport in the snow. If you dare to try to run away into the woods dragging a sled behind you, you'll feel like Heidi. If you prefer you can isolate yourself and live like people from our grandparents' era did. Simply! Airports in Zurich
Zürich Airport
(15)
Stupidly I thought perhaps that in the Zurich airport, everything would be clean, organized and perfect. The first time I went through it, we went to get a bus to the plane, and then I realized that all flights arrived were reached at with a bus. The 2nd time, we drove up on the bus, after waiting 15 minutes, and then getting on the plane were left in the bus another 30 minutes! We flew with Swiss Air. The waiting room was very small, with very few amenities, for example no plug to charge your computer, and people were charged an incredibly high price for internet ... I did not like the experience. I also had a pate in my backpack and it melted, and I was almost confiscated because it was "liquid". The airport is not far from the city, and there is a train to the city center, and also a city bus for transportation.

Valleys in Grindelwald
Jungfrau
(2)
Jungfraunch is region in Switzerland where you can find villages such as Murren, Brienz, Interlaken ... Etc. It's a fabulous and beautiful area where you can visit one of the few remaining glaciers. Interlaken is the most important town in the region and from there you can visit many other various places. It is situated between Zurich and Bern.
Cities in Bern
Berne
(24)
I recently had the opportunity to visit Switzerland. Among the places I visited was Bern, a city I loved for its vitality. I was shocked by the amount of shopping that the city offers, the train station with its fluctuations of people was impressive, and I have never seen a camera shop with so many products. I recommend a visit.
Cities in Zermatt
Zermatt
(9)
Zermatt (formerly known as Praborgne in French) is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Valais, located in the district of Visp. It's one of the most popular and exclusive ski resorts in Switzerland, along with St. Moritz, Klosters and Gstaad. We visited this small but charming town and climbed through cog railway to Gornegrat up to 3,136 meters. There are 4 routes down to Zermatt. 1. Gornegrat-Rotenboden-1'7km, 2. Rotenboden-Riffelsee-Riffelberg-3.2 km. 3. Riffelberf-Riffelalp 2.2 km. 4. Riffelalp-Findelbach-Zermatt 6km.
Cities in Lausanne
Lausanne
(18)
From the top, at the Cathedral, to the most commercial shopping area, there are a number of fairly steep streets. And a lot of stairs. Some of the stairs are even indoors and there are under tunnels to avoid inclement weather. Lausanne is a city that does not attract many to walk because of its many hills and the metro service is very good as well, but a walk is always nice.
Villages in Stein am Rhein
Stein am Rhein Old City
(9)
Here, where Lake Constance again becomes the Rhine there there is the small town of Stein am Rhein, which is famous for having a well-preserved old town, with fresh exterior facades and half-timbered houses. We spent a whole day here when the heat was overwhelming, after eating, which by the way is very expensive, we went for a swim in the river. I have called the facades fresh because it makes the town resembles a museum and thus it is a town with incredible beauty.
Cities in Basel
Basel
(8)
Basel is the third most populous city in northwestern Switzerland with about 166,000 inhabitants. It borders France and Germany and gives rise to the large international Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg airport. My visit to the city was short. First, I visited Geneva and then went by train to Basel. At first, the trains in Switzerland seemed expensive to me because I paid about 80 euros (in 2007) to travel 250 km, but after having travelled around Finland, I think they are normally priced. The city seemed lovely. I stayed, like in Geneva, in a HI HOSTELS chain in town. The major attractions of the city are the cathedral, the town hall, the Rhine, and the Spalentor. Its old town is also lovely.
Lakes in Lugano
Lugano
(13)
Visiting Lugano is like stepping into a city where peace reigns on all sides. In this Switzerland is a country that is known for being very quiet and clean, and Lugano is a town that is set on a lake. Where taking a walk by night in August with a comfortable temperature is one of the magical moments of any holiday. No monument is characterized by any star, yet the tranquility breathes through its streets, the friendly people and the fact that it has the lake bordering gives the city a buccolic air.
Cathedrals in Lausanne
Cathedral of Lausanne
(16)
From the Place de la Palaud, the covered staircase takes you up to the Cathedral. It's a XIII century building completely restored by Viollet-le-Duc at the end of the nineteenth century. The interior is very sober but outside there are extrordinary original sculptures.
Cities in Zurich
Zurich
(19)
Walking through the streets of Zurich is a great feeling for tourists no matter what the weather is like. From the pedestrian-only old town surrounded by shops and alleyways to the financial district, it is fantastic. From the tranquility of the most remote places to the tram-causing messes. Regardless of where you are, and except at peak hours, wandering around Zurich is something relaxing to do. There are barely any noises or bad smells.
