The World’s Largest Ball of Twine is…well…the world’s largest ball of twine! It’s a true gem of authentic Americana and one of those bizarre roadside attractions that can only be found in the long stretches of highway that criss-cross the vast American Midwest. This particular ball of twine is located in the small town of Cawker City, Kansas in the north-central part of the state. The ball was created by Frank Stoeber in 1953 and he managed to build it up to a mid-boggling 5,000lbs!!! If you make arrangements ahead of time, you can even add your own length of twine to the giant ball and be a part of history! If you’re looking for something to break the monotony of your roadtrip, I could hardly think of a more off-beat or original plan that stopping for a cool soda at one of the Cawker City cafes, chatting a bit with the locals, then checking out the World’s Largest Ball of Twine.
