Venezuela is charming, friendly, cheerful and welcoming. The La Restinga, has an unique landscape which you can travel through on a small dinghy, through the beautiful mangroves where you will find small tunnels . A beautiful journey through nature.

"The Breasts" of Maria Guevara
(2)
This evocative name is a natural park of 1,670 hectares about 11 km from the [poi = 72204] Laguna de la Restinga [/ poi]. It consists of dry forest, semi-desert landscapes and mangroves (since it has three saltwater lagoons that are named Punta de Piedra, Boca de Palo and Laguna de Raya). "Tetas de Maria Guevara" are two twin hills in this park, considered a Natural Monument, 135 meters tall, protruding from the vast plain, visible from anywhere, shape reminiscent of a woman's breasts. Maria Guevara was a very pretty mestizo popular with local fishermen.

The Tyrant is one of the beaches of Nueva Esparta state in Venezuela, specifically on the island of Margarita. The very bright sun and the clear water are the framework of economic and cultural activity. Island fishermen moor their boats on the beach while counting the hawl of fish and octopus.

Macanao Peninsula - Excursion 4 X 4
(1)
The Macanao Peninsula is located on the west side of the Island of Margarita, attached to the large sand tongue [poi = 72204] La Restinga National Park [/ poi]. It is the most unspoilt and less populated part of Margarita Island, but there aren't roads, just unpaved dirt roads, so it is common to do a road tour, hiring a guide from one of the many companies. I had fun, we went in several jeeps, and the drivers were very excited young boys who made the trip very enjoyable, even making competitions between them, to see who got more difficult paths or beat the others. The jeeps were convertibles which was great because with the potholes it was almost impossible to stay seated. This tour isn't recommended for people with back problems. One of the most beautiful views I remember was a pristine beach that contrasted with the semi-desert landscape that was behind it. The tour ended in a break of a couple of hours at the[poi = 72211] Punta Arenas Beach[/ poi].

Punta Arenas Beach

After a day in the boat we sailed by the [poi = 72204] Laguna La Restinga [/ poi] and by 4x4's [poi = 72207] Macanao Peninsula [/ poi], we end with a short break at the beach Punta Arenas. This is not easily accessible, located in the extreme southwest of Macanao, we were able to access it by jeep. It is a pristine beach, but now with tourism, there are sunbeds and parasols and a snack bar with toilets. It is considered one of the most beautiful of Margarita. It measures 1.5 km long, and has fine white sand, with abundant sea shells, corals and starfish. Its waters are clear and shallow.

An hour by boat from Playa El Yaque is Cubagua Island. Site of the first city founded in Venezuela. New Cadiz, thrived on the exploitation of pearls but ended due to overexploitation and an earthquake. Today it's amazing place to walk in peace and contact with nature.

Pier of Indio Marín
(1)
This pier, called "Indian Marin" is the starting point to visit the La Restinga Lagoon National Park. This is where the tours are contracted by the waterways of the lake, which are made in small picturesque wooden boats with capacity for six to eight people. There are about 90 boats, the crossing takes about 45-50 minutes in which mangroves are travelled over five channels, two tunnels and two seats, which have been curiously christened with names like "Channel kiss", "Garden of my love "," Love Paradise "," Square Bella Vista "," Channel Maria Guevara ", etc.. Opening hours are from seven in the morning until five in the evening. Prices are16 euros for the hire of the boat.

El Agua Waterpark

The water park is a theme park with various slides, restaurants and other rides. The beach is very close to the water with a slide that has a 17 meter free fall, you really stay in the air for a moment, taking your breath away. Be careful, a half day pass is more than sufficient because there aren't many alternatives, but it's definitely a place to visit!
