Facing the Bay of Biscay, and in the centre of San Lorenzo beach, is the Prince of Asturias hotel, an emblem of the bay and pride of Asturianos. It has been transformed into a modern hotel, combining the open and cheerful atmosphere of the tourist area where it is situated, with the amenities, facilities and tranquillity of a tourist-focussed company.

This elegant 4 star hotel seems to rise above the waters of Biscay. This beachfront hotel also has fabulous views of the sand, the Bay of San Lorenzo, and the Historic District of Cimadevilla. The rooms can accommodate one or two people, and are very nicely and elegantly decorated. All rooms feature TV, minibar, iron, air conditioning and Internet. The hotel also has an outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, gym and sauna and a pleasant restaurant. A highly recommended place. The rooms don't go below 100 euros per night.
The La Colina, as the name (which translates as "The Hill") suggests, is situated on a hill next to Gijon, overlooking the Bay of Biscay. The views are breathtaking, you can see the sea from every room. The facilities are new and in very good condition. Do not miss the breakfast, which in my opinion is better than some 5 * hotels. And if you have chance to enjoy the walking path that runs alongside the hotel on top of the cliffs, do it! Oh, and the service at the hotel is excellent.
Hernan Cortes Hotel is a magnificent and historic 4-star hotel located in the heart of the city of Gijón, which defines itself as "a classic in Gijón center". My main reasons for choosing this hotel were on the one hand, its great location in the center and, of course, for its great price, as we got 50% of discount on the room rate. This hotel has 3 room types: 1) Basic, which for me would be a standard or basic, the most simple, small and somewhat outdated room. 2) 5 star Luxe Rooms with plasma screen, very spacious bathroom with separate door for the toilet and bidet. 3) 5 star Suites which are really impressive and huge. In my case, I had requested the cheapest room, the Basic though we got upgraded to the luxe. I recommend paying a little more and getting a luxe room. We had room 612, which we would ask for again if we returned to this hotel. It had practically everything, 3 closets, a separate entrance hall, a vast bathroom with separate door to toilet and bidet, plasma TV, minibar and air conditioning.
Our hotel is in a large park just five minutes from Gijón's centre and its wonderful beaches. In the heart of the fantastic Asturian coast, bordering the Bay of Biscay. An environment that makes our hotel ideal for access to any location, mountains or beaches in Asturias. The house is two centuries old, but we have adapted perfectly to accommodate modern travellers, and preserved the stately style in all rooms, furnished with rich furnishings and period decor, the same as the house had in 1860.

The Parador de Gijon is directly opposite the Isabel la Catolica park, and El Molinon stadium. as you'd expect from this chain, it's a charming hotel. It's located in an old mill, built around a landscaped courtyard with a little pond. It's a small building with just 40 rooms, all decorated in a rustic style. It has a cafe, bustling with people at lunchtime. Other facilities include a conference lounge and a restaurant, which specialises in "fabada asturiana" (the local stew).
Hostal Plaza is located in the center of Gijon, less than 200 meters from the train and bus station. The Cimadevilla neighborhood and the beach are less than 10 minutes' walk away, so the location is great. As for the rooms, they're a good size, but simply furnished and somewhat sparse. The bed was a bit soft for my taste, but bearable for one night. The bathroom is newly renovated, and the room price was about 35 € / night, on the cheap side for Gijon. There is parking on the street nearby, and the staff were friendly and attentive at all times. A good choice to sleep on the cheap.
This hotel has a great location near the beach and Gijon tourist routes. The parking lot isn't close and the closest one is often full. It has a cafe next door where you eat breakfast. There are also restaurants nearby and places to have drinks. The rooms could be somewhat cleaner. The one we got was small in size and it was difficult to move around the room, especially the bathroom. The price doesn't reflect the quality. I personally think the price was too high for the cleanliness and room size.
La Polar comes highly recommended, and it should be, because I loved it. It's right next to Poniente Beach and the Yacht Club, specifically on Avenida Juan Carlos, and best of all, it's practically brand new. It's very modern and it opened in August 2003. The hotel is tiny, with just 25 rooms, all with private terraces, satellite TV, and complete bathroom facilities. The highlight is the cafe, known as Cafe La Polar. I liked it a lot, even though it's only rated 2 stars. I think it's much better than many 3 and 4 star hotels I know. I'm going to recommend it to everyone, and I almost forgot, the facade of the building was built by the famous Basque architect, based in Asturias, Ernesto Knorr.
Very good hotel! It's a decent price, but for the quality I'd say it's worth it. The room we had was great, everything was super clean. If you want to do the touristy things, there's maps etc in the reception and they'll tell you where you should visit. The only downside was that the rooms near us were a bit noisy, but everything else was stupendous! It's in a perfect location, the centre of everything and you can walk to the attractions without a problem. The breakfast bar has a whole host of food to choose from, and you can eat as much as you want. I will definitely give it a 10! I loved it!
This hotel has four stars, but you won't be able to believe that when you see it...really, it should have three. The reception is small, the building is small, and the amenities really aren't good enough. The only services they offer are laundry and coffee, the atmosphere isn't great, and it's in a charmless neighborhood. At least it's quiet, tucked away on a lane surrounded by old, poorly-maintained houses. The rooms are tiny and the bathrooms are already obselete by today's standards. Transport links aren't as good as the hotel claims, and although at least the service is pleasant - like most Asturians, the staff are friendly and polite - it made me think of a roadside motel, and I wouldn't recommend it.
I recommend this as a good choice if you're with a group of friends or family. It's great, spacious but cozy, with a huge garden, with bikes and children's strollers to get around. The beach is just 2 km away...
This hotel is located in the heart of the Asturian city of Gijon, and the location allows you to walk easy to the famous beach of San Lorenzo or to the bus or train station. In my opinion, it's one of the best-located hotels in Gijon. It's a simple 3-star hotel, and the facilities aren't very luxurious, but things are quite new. I've stayed here on several occasions, in different rooms that were really quite different. But they always offer good prices and no one is ever unhappy with the hotel. A good option if you want to stay in the centre of the city and aren't looking for extravagance.
