A famous icon
Surely the most famous icon of San Francisco has to be its unique mode of transportation: the cable car. These old trams that run on cable are the oldest in the world to still be active. Be sure to use them at least once before you leave the city. You can find a terminus at the corner of Powell & Market, for example.
