Half Dome

Beside the Captain is where you'll find the Half Dome, which is another much higher ridge (2695 meters). You can climb to the top by following a long path to get the best views of the park. From there you can also visit the two most famous waterfalls in the park, the Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls. Be careful in this area on the circular path of the 140 with sheriff's cars and their radars. The speed limit is very slow here. You have a wonderful view of this wall and falls from Glacier Point.

Hiking to the top of the Half Dome

In almost every picture of Yosemite National Park, you will see the Half Dome in the background. Why not try the Half Dome hike starting from Yosemite Village. On top of the half dome, you will get an bird's eye view of the whole Yosemite area. It is breathtaking and worth the effort. You need a hiking permit that that can be applied online. Usually the cables on half dome are opened throughout summer. Right now, the hiking permit runs on a ballot system. Remember to wear some good hiking boots! The hike is takes around 12 hours round trip and covers around 14 miles! Absolutely something to do

Last light on Half Dome

Yosemite National Park's Half Dome inspires anyone with a camera. Ansel Adams' photographs have inspired me to visit Yosemite and bring along my camera. It is the range of light and the weather which make the place so special. My intention is to return as often as possible.

Stunning view.
