Rue Frèbault

La Rue Frebault is the main street of Pointe-à-Pitre and runs perpendicular to the streets of Peynier and St. John Perse. Most of the shops are concentrated on this street (jewelers, clothing stores, pharmacies, electronics stores, bazaars, etc.), as well as a post office and some banks. It is the oldest and longest street in the city (approximately 1 km long) and also the city's first paved street. The most central location is the corner of Rue Peynier, where the Plaza San Antonio and Central Market are located. The street is named after a French general who became governor of Guadeloupe.
