When we arrived in Albufeira, the first problem we encountered was with the parking lot, there wasn't a single place available. On top of that it was raining cats and dogs, so we had to find somewhere dry. We parked in the first spot we could find and were lucky that after walking just a few meters we come face to face with the restaurant we were looking for. It's modest, but very cozy with great home cooked food, with seating for about 30. The décor was simple and definitely the best part was the friendliness of the waitress, ve greeted the clientele with great familiarity, everyone was Portuguese except us. They made a huge effort to speak to us in Spanish, and were very friendly and helpful. We chose a fixed menu for 9 euros a plate with sausage, bacon, eggs and potatoes, very light hehe, but the truth is it was a perfect meal for the freezing cold outside. You could also choose dishes a la cart from the menu, so we opted for lamb chops with salad, and almond cake for dessert. I definitely recommend this place, you can eat well for a good price.
The "cataplana" is a delicious seafood cauldron with fish, vegetables and boiled rice mixed together. It was heavenly after an endless search for a not so "touristy" restaurant. This restaurant is located in Albufeira. The menu is in English as well as Portuguese, something that is inevitable in Albufeira. However, in this case, the price to quality ratio was great. It is an old theater, and has really small tables for two up on a few balconies overlooking the street. Everything was delicious. Robalos, bass, and Dorado, seabass, were a hit. €12-14 for generous portions. Well, this is my small contribution to Minube.
While it's located on the same street and side as [poi = 389001] Jojo's [/ poi], this restaurant has a more ample menu available in English, German or French. The table service was excellent and the meal was very good but probably designed for people with more purchasing power than I. There were all kinds of fish and delicious seafood, the cheapest of which were the sardines for € 5, a nice snack. The rest of the menu is between 8 € and 10 € the dish and you could have sangria, beer or wine and a wide selection of desserts. A complete meal with drinks and dessert costs around 25€. Good linens, high-quality dishes, and a beautifully presented menu. I regret not having written down the phone number!
If you pass by Albufeira, you must visit the Spot Beach Bar, which is located on Dos Alemães beach, very near to Inatel and the old town of Albufeira. With a huge stretch of beach, you can stroll there from the old town, spend a nice day at the beach, have lunch in the restaurant and in the evening enjoy a party, which often takes place in the Spot. Meals are served during the day, excellent wine with fish of the day and traditional Portuguese dishes, cataplanas, caldeirada (you have to make a reservation beforehand), pizzas, paellas, snails .. among many other things. In the evening you can see a beautiful sunset whilst enjoying a tasty sangria made with cava (a specialty of the house), red or white wine, mojitos, caipirinhas or a refreshing beer among other things. No need to throw out your swimsuit, you can have fun at any of the festivals that usually take place throughout the summer. Dj's, live music, are some of the entertainment that you can find in the spot ... if you intend to travel to Albufeira, be sure to check out the upcoming events on facebook.
A cafe/bar that you must go to if you are in Albufeira! It´s located in a pretty central area, close to the main nightlife street (Oura area) and the Albufeira shopping district. They have an extensive menu with pizza (excellent - don´t hesitate to try them), burgers, paella, pastas, salads .... ice cream, caipirinhas, mojitos, sangrias (red and white) and champagne and all kinds of cocktails. There´s a smoking area (closed and heated in the winter) on a large terrace where you can enjoy the very long days of sunshine that Algarve has to offer. Very helpful and friendly staff. There are happy hour specials that are really cheap. A must see!
The poor service from the staff and the slowness of the service take away from the spectacular location and views. We were the only ones in the restaurant and it still took about 1h.30min to bring us the appetizer, which indeed was the smallest portion I'd seen in Portugal. Good luck and be patient
This bar and restaurant is located on a pedestrian street where there are plenty of similar places crowded next to each other. It´s located near the Fishermen's Beach (Praia de Pescadores) and specializes in all types of grilled food and Italian cuisine but you can choose from a variety of things. We ate on the white paved pavement covered by clear beach umbrellas. We ate grilled chicken with chips and salad and drank a couple of light cokes and had ice cream for dessert. The prices ranged from 1.99 € for the salad to a dish similar to ours with meat or pizza for € 12.99. The service was good and friendly. It was great for enjoying a few minutes of relaxation after a busy and really hot day.
After spending an long day exploring Albufeira, we fancied a pizza. We found Pizza D'Italia, a small restaurant on the Avenida Liberdade do 93 and found just want we needed: homemade pizzas, fair prices, and a very friendly and welcoming manager. We actually went back the next day. The prices are good for medium pizzas (which, by the way, would be considered large in most other establishments) and it was a welcome break from Portuguese food for my kids. Overall, it's a nice place to eat and relax and it's open late.
If you're in Galé beach and want something cool and refreshing, this seaside place is perfect. The Mexican Rush with mango, pear and pineapple is great and costs € 3.5. They also have an extensive menu of snacks and drinks that I didn´t try but looked really good.
The restaurant is in a farmhouse near the sea and has 17 luxurious rooms available for rent. The chef, Dieter Koschina, surprises their guests with their delicious signature dishes: a tray containing smoked salmon with eggs, dill and yogurt, raw tuna with a sweet and sour soy dressing and a mozzarella costrón with and eggplant spread, and a skewer of sardines, tomatoes, olive and pesto and a slice of smoked eel wrapped in fried bacon.
Bravo Grill Steak House is a good place to eat. It's not cheap, but it is reasonable given that it's in a very touristy area. Lunch or dinner for 4 runs between 40 and 60 euros. Lots of fish, roasts, pizzas, desserts...everything we tried was great. The typical food from the Algarve was scrumptious. The service is good, especially with children. We had a slight dispute about something on the bill, but it was resolved in my favor after a quick conversation. If your budget is limited, the la carte dishes are cheap (and good), although there are others that are less so. If you go to Albufeira, try eating here at least once.
