1 review of Baraolt

Beautiful region

Baraolt is an important town in the region of Covasna, in the eastern part of Transylvania. It is first mentioned in 1224. In total, the population reaches almost 10,000, but does not feel like it as it's a rural place with big, farm-style houses with lots of land around them. The population is mostly Szekler. The Szeklers are people who come from Asia and in the village, 95% of the population speaks Hungarian. It is an official language in the region along with Romanian. The city, which has restaurants, and bars, can serve as a starting point to explore the beautiful region around. The Ocland villages, fortified churches or Darjiu Sanpaul are all accessible from Baraolt.
