Batanii Mari

Batanii Mari is one of the largest villages in the region of Batanii, Covasna County. Most of the people are Szeklers - of Hungarian descent, and still speak Hungarian on the street, because they have mixed little with the Romanians. Over 90% of the population is Szekler Mari Batanii. The village is a mixture of beautiful colored houses with carved wooden doors. Then there is a darker part, something sad, reminiscent of the era of communism. But now from the color and tradition back to fashion. We arrived during a festival, the village people were wearing a costume decorated with horse's tail oovered with flowers.
